This guide will walk you through the step-by-step procedure required to advance your equipment to tiers 2 and 3.

About Upgrades

What are upgrades for?

Upgrades in Phasmophobia serve as a means for players to progressively acquire improved equipment over time. As you enhance your equipment, the statistics of that equipment can become more favorable. Several of these statistics include:

  • Range
  • Use Limit
  • Use Speed
  • Use Cooldown
  • Use Duration

Let’s take the EMF Reader as an example. When you upgrade your EMF Reader to Tier II, its range increases by 0.3 meters, which is approximately equal to 1 foot. Additionally, the appearance of the item undergoes a significant transformation. This holds true for all equipment, making it a highly advisable decision to upgrade all your equipment as soon as possible.

How Much is an Upgrade?

In Phasmophobia, the cost of upgrades increases depending on the level to which you are upgrading your equipment. Upgrading to Tier II typically ranges from $3000 to $10,000, while advancing to Tier III will cost $6,000 or more. Despite the relatively high costs of these upgrades, their substantial utility in-game compared to their Tier I counterparts justifies the expense.

For more detailed information on upgrade prices, you can refer to the complete upgrade prices section in this guide.
