This guide will show you how to easily farm gold in a short amount of time. In addition, this guide also covers the details on how to unlock the Elderand achievement called Thinking Ahead.
Locations
According to my playthrough, Elderand has only two locations that offer the most gold per room visit. These two places are the most efficient ones for repeated visits.
Mid-Game
Location: Sanctuary of the First
To reach this spot from the Bonfire, go directly left until you encounter an elevator heading downward. Follow the left path further down until you arrive at the designated area. Look for a special door accessible using the relic Fragment of Haduk’maala, The Timeless Mirror.
Fragment of Haduk’maala, The Timeless Mirror.
In this area, you can swiftly rush in by spamming your dash button, while evading the gradually descending spikes and clearing out the vases along the way. It’s worth noting that for optimal coverage, it’s advisable to possess either Getzansu, the Skycutter (Sword) or Torturer’s Embrace (Armor), which I will elaborate on in the upcoming sections of the guide. Equipping the Golden Alliance Ring is necessary for a significant increase in gold drop per vase and per run, as explained later in the guide.
Here are some approximate estimations of the gold drops:
- Gold per Vase: 1 – 15 gold
- Gold per Run: 70 – 140 gold
- Gold per Run with Enhancements: 180 – 300 gold
You may also find the following drops: Small Health potion, Small Mana potion, Wooden Arrow, Knife, Axe, Bomb.
This location is the second best alternative I’ve discovered, hence why it’s specified for the Mid-Game stage, as not everything is available at this point.
Late-Game
Location: Akr-Sharrak, The Sanctuary of the Tyrant Hope
At the highest point of the map, you’ll find a bonfire. From there, continue downwards using the elevator and head straight to the right. Keep dashing forward until you spot a hook on the screen. Use it to jump to the platform leading to the Final Boss Dan’Nuhrr.
You’ll encounter 6 vases here, offering the highest gold drop compared to any other vase in the game. Make sure to equip enhancements before farming to maximize your gold yield.
Here are the approximate estimations for the gold drops at this location:
- Gold per Vase: 1 – 35 gold
- Gold per Run: 70 – 180 gold
- Gold per Run with Enhancements: 280 – 550 gold
Additionally, you might come across these drops: Large Health potion, Large Mana potion, Diamond Arrow, Knife, Axe, Bomb.
Enhancements
These enhancements are optional but can significantly impact the amount of gold you get and the time it takes for each run.
Weapons
To slash vases while dashing forward, you’ll need the following sword:
- Slash Vases when Dashing Forwards
To obtain Getzansu, you must defeat Hungry Abyss, who can be found in Omulore, The Ruined City. The quickest way to increase your chances of him dropping Getzansu is to have the Sumptuous Ring (Increases Drop Chance).
Armors
To find this armor, you should head to Delinquent’s Breach and explore the area marked in the image below:
Rings
If you’re interested in acquiring the Sumptuous Ring, you need to perform a ritual in the Sanctuary of the First. Visit the location circled on the map as shown here:
If you’re aiming to obtain the Golden Alliance Ring, you’ll need to open a chest situated in Omolure, The Ruined City. Visit the location marked on the map as shown here:
These enhancements and equipment can make a significant difference in your gold farming efficiency.
Thinking Ahead Achievement
In the end, all that remains is to gather 30,000 gold. Chances are, you’ve already collected about half of this achievement while playing the game. So, simply follow one of the two locations I’ve mentioned in this guide, and you’ll be well on your way to reaching your goal. Happy grinding!
