Lugia is one of the early Legendary Pokemon that soar the skies and Raid Battles in Pokemon GO. Since its release in 2017 in the AR mobile game, Niantic has been frequently featuring Lugia as one of the rewards. So, if you missed catching Lugia in the past few events of Pokemon, don’t worry as it will be available again soon.

To help you prepare for the upcoming fights against Lugia, we are to give you the best Pokemon that you can use against Lugia. Without further ado, let’s get started!

Legendary Lugia

Lugia Weaknesses

Lugia is a Psychic and Flying-type Pokemon which means it is weak against the following elements:

  • Dark-type
  • Ice-type
  • Electric-type
  • Rock-type
  • Ghost-type

Best Lugia Counters

Due to the wide element range of its weaknesses, you have a lot of Pokemon that you can use against Lugia. However, please note that some of these Pokemon may also be weak against Lugia’s attack. To make things easier, here is the top 10 best Pokemon that you can use to fight the Legendary Lugia.

  1. Gengar (Mega) with Shadow Claw (Fast Move) and Shadow Ball (Charge Move)
  2. Kyurem (Black) with Shadow Claw (Fast Move) and Blizzard (Charge Move)
  3. Zekrom with Charge Beam (Fast Move) and Wild Charge (Charge Move)
  4. Houndoom (Mega) with Snarl (Fast Move) and Foul Play (Charge Move)
  5. Darmanitan (Galarian Zen) with Ice Fang (Fast Move) and Avalanche (Charge Move)
  6. Darkrai with Snarl (Fast Move) and Shadow Ball (Charge Move)
  7. Magnezone with Spark (Fast Move) and Wild Charge (Charge Move)
  8. Raikou with Thunder Shock (Fast Move) and Wild Charge (Charge Move)
  9. Tyranitar with Bite (Fast Move) and Stone Edge (Charge Move)
  10. Giratina (Origin) with Shadow Claw (Fast Move) and Shadow Ball (Charge Move)

In case you don’t have the Pokemon listed above, you can also try using Weavile, Kyurem (White), Zapdos, Hydreigon, Thundurus (Therian), Electivire, Rhyperior, and Mewtwo.

Pokemon Types to Avoid Using

While you can also use a bug-type Pokemon against Lugia, we highly discourage using such type Pokemon as it will take super-effective damage from Lugia’s attack. Fighting Pokemon are also another type of Pokemon to avoid as they are weak against Flying-type moves.
