A guide to what you can create to increase peep happiness and their upgrade and recipe options. Please note that we didn’t list all bonuses. Just ones related to what you are doing.

Food Related

Vegetables, Fruits, Tea, and More +

If you can grow them on the island, you should. Easy way to make everyone a little happier. Peeps can only consume so many potatoes and water.

  • Upgrades: Irrigation almost doubles production of each field.
  • Bonus: Placing fields together increases storage.

Milk ++

  • Building: Cow Farm
  • Needs: Nothing. I guess cows eat the grass, even yummy swamp grass.
  • Upgrades: Automated = Faster production and more power
  • Cons: A little pollution.
  • Bonus: Placing cow farms next to each other increases milk storage and production speed.

Smoothies +++, ++++

Probably the best bang for your buck as far as resources spent to increased happiness.

Building: Smoothie Maker

RecipeRequirementHappiness
IPower + Fruit+++
IIPower + Fruit + Tea+++
IIIPower + Fruit + Tea + Wheat+++
IVPower + Fruit + Tea + Wheat + Milk++++
VPower + Fruit + Tea + Wheat + Milk + Vegetables++++

Cons: A little pollution. Since it’s already at +3 there’s not much incentive to get to +4.

Upgrades: Automated = Faster production and more power. Can also do filter upgrade to reduce pollution. You can only upgrade when the max recipe is reached.

Bread +++

BuildingRequirementUpgrade
MillWheat = FlourAutomated will need power and doubles production to equal Baker’s speed.
BakerPower + Water + FlourAutomated needs more power but no need to do unless you have two mills.

Cons: A little pollution for the baker.

Bonus: Mill gets a speed bonus for empty tiles nearby. Storage bonus for placing wheat fields together.

Meals ++, ++++

Building: Kitchen

RecipeRequirementHappiness
IPower + Vegetables++
IIPower + Vegetables + Potatoes++
IIIPower + Vegetables + Potatoes + Fruit++
IVPower + Vegetables + Potatoes + Fruit + Bread++++
VPower + Vegetables + Potatoes + Fruit + Bread + Salt++++

Cons: A little pollution.

Upgrades: Automated = Faster production and more power. Can also do filter upgrade to reduce pollution. You can only upgrade when the max recipe is reached.

Item Related

Clothes +, ++

Clothes are a pain. Because you’ll almost never be able to grow the cotton and wool on the same planet. But they give you an added bonus of having the peeps not slow down in bad weather. If you like the idea of your peeps wearing tattered rags as they work for the man (you and chief monkey), then don’t bother.

RecipeBuildingRequirementHappiness
IWeaverPower + Cotton = Fabric+
ITailorPower + Fabric+
IIWeaverPower + Cotton + Wool = Good Fabric++
IITailorPower + Good Fabric++

Upgrades: Automated = Faster production and more power. You can only upgrade when the max recipe is reached.

Note: Weaver and tailor produce at the same speed.

Sheep Farm: Needs nothing but can be upgraded to automated for faster production and will need power. The farm has a little pollution.

Bonus: Storage bonus for placing cotton fields together and sheep farms. Sheep farms also produce faster.

Luxury Items +, ++

I hate this one. The building is big and peeps working there get sad. It’s a marketplace, why are they sad? Probably the strangest recipes too. The item icon is a ring. Never heard of a wooden ring before. And what item needs wood, glass, and clothes?

Building: Market Place

RecipeRequirementHappiness
IPower + Wood+
IIPower + Wood + Glass+
IIIPower + Wood + Glass + Clothes+
IVPower + Wood + Glass + Clothes + Marble++
VPower + Wood + Glass + Clothes + Marble + Electronics++

Cons: A lot of resources for +1 happiness.

Upgrades: None

Building Related

Fountain +++

This would be the easiest thing to make to give peeps happiness. Takes a lot of marble to build, though.

Needs: Nothing

Cons: I rarely have an extra spot to shove a fountain in a highly trafficked area and the happiness radius is small. It needs to be on a green hex which can be a problem on a desert island.

Musician +

A lot of resources to build and not sure how effective it is.

Needs: Nothing

Cons: Small happiness radius.

Meeting Square – Resets to max happiness

A good way to reset peep happiness. But it doesn’t last forever and all production stops during the event. It also takes a long time until you can throw another party.

Needs: Nothing

Cleaner

Doesn’t directly make peeps happier but it reduces pollution which makes them happier. Also creates awesome foaming action on hexes.

Needs: Water

Road Related

Decorated Road +

On top of needing good luxury items, which require a lot of resources to make and building the road layer building, you will also need fuel for the vehicle.

Building: Road Layer

Needs: Good luxury items and fuel

Cons: A lot of resources for +1 happiness.
