Seeds are vital to increase the overall strength of your party but also enjoy the passive skills that each summon provide. However, without the research to level up your allies, you cannot spend those seeds. Gaining enough seeds and research can be cumbersome and tedious because you may find they don’t drop enough or not frequent at all. This guide aims to help farming seeds and research in an efficient way no matter how far you are in the game.

Feel free to leave a comment to improve this guide or correct a mistake.

How to use seeds and research

Seeds

There are three types of seeds in Your Chronicle:

  • Physical
  • Magical
  • Special

Each type of seed has it’s use and depending on your strategy might be more helpful than the other.

Research

Every enemy has his own type of research which can only be spend on summons of that particular enemy.

Gaining Seeds and Research

Seeds and Research are gathered by defeating enemies.

There is also 1 dungeon that yields seed, which is the Training Room in the Village, it drops a Physical seed (not worth grinding, except for the first 2 hours of the game).

Every enemy in the Bestiary that can be defeated can drop Seeds and Research. This isn’t the hardest part; the hardest part is how to get more and how to use them!

Spending Seeds and Research

The first time an enemy will drop Research, it will unlock a new ally for you. After that, you need more research to level up your ally be spending it on Summons, increasing its maximum level, allowing more Seeds to be spend on the ally levels of Physical, Magical and Special. E.g. if your Slime is level 2, you can upgrade Physical, Magical and Special levels up until level 2.

Seeds can be spend on members of your party in the Level Up menu underneath Party.

There are two exceptions to this rule, because these special allies give passive bonuses based on their level and cannot be added to your party:

  • Blazing Aura
  • Evil eye

These two require one of each seed for one level in the Special category.

Party member effects

There are a hand full factors that determine how often and how many Seeds and Research you get. But the most easy ones to boost, especially in the beginning of your gameplay, are your party members.

Some party members have one or more of the following skills that you should focus on when farming seeds:

  • Seeds drop chance (SDC)
  • Seeds drop amount (SDA)
  • Physical/Magical/Special Seeds max/capacity (SC)
  • Global drop chance (GDC)
  • Research drop amount (RDA)
  • Research drop chance (RDC)
  • Physical/Intellectual/Artist’s Dryad effect
  • Arrogant Fairy effect

Global drop chance is only for mid-end game since you need to defeat the the stronger guardians for that.

Dryad and Fairy effects are only useful if you have the familiars enabled as well. This can help players warp into mid range gameplay if they use them well.

Useful party members – Early

In the early beginnings the first priority is getting Research to actually level up your allies far enough to level them up with Seeds. The following allies provide Seed and Research boosts early on:

Ally
Boosts
Advice
Bird
SC
Add this to your party when you can so you don’t miss out on any drops.
Rat
SC
Same as Bird, you can replace Bird for a stronger member if you added Rat.
Black Insect
RDA
First Research related ally, add to your party ASAP.
Stone Crab
SDA
Add him to the party and level his special ASAP.
Sludge Slime
RDA
Has a 10x higher RDA than Black Insect, feel free to replace Black Insect.
Rock Turtle
RDC
First ally with RDC, add to your party ASAP.
Brown Slime
Dryad
Add him to the party if you run familiars on the dryads.
Bluebird
SC, SDC
Add him to your party ASAP, you can replace Rat
Elite Chicken
SDA
Increases SDA significantly when fully leveled (40%). This is a powerful ally early on and will stick around for a long time.
Soldier Bee
SDA
Increases SDA significantly when fully leveled (60%).
Yellow Slime
SC
Doubles SC compared to Bluebird. Replace Bluebird with Yellow Slime if you really must, but try to keep them both.
Queen Bee
RDC
Has a 5x higher RDC than Rock Turtle. However, this enemy is rare and hard to come by early on. Add to your party ASAP, feel free to replace Rock Turtle.
Dragon Baby
RDC, SDC
Gives you a slight increase in SDC, but perhaps more importantly increases RDC quite a bit.
Wyvern
SDA
Increases SDA significantly when fully leveled (80%).

At this point your farming party will looks something like this, assuming you invested your rubies in buying party slots:

  1. You
  2. Wyvern
  3. Dragon Baby
  4. Queen Bee (if available), else add Rock Turtle
  5. Yellow Slime
  6. Soldier Bee
  7. Elite Chicken
  8. Blue Bird
  9. Sludge Slime
  10. Brown Slime

This should help you level up your allies a lot as the Seed and Research drop will increase while you level them up.

Useful party members – Mid

When you can leave the Academy and finally move on, some new pastures lie ahead, including some powerful new allies.

Ally
Boosts
Advice
Charity Larva
SC
More than doubles the SC compared to Yellow Slime, feel free to replace Yellow Slime.
Chaotic Brain
GDC
Gained by defeating the first guarding, increases Global Drop Chance by 5% when fully leveled.
Affectionate Left Arm
SDC
Gained by defeating the first guarding, increases SDC by 10% when fully leveled, feel free to replace Blue bird.
Hell Butterfly
SC
Again more than doubles the SC compared to Charity Larva, feel free to replace Charity Larva.
Mithril Bird
SDA
Since Mithril Bird is a rare enemy, it is very hard to come by, so don’t worry if it takes you multiple reincarnations to get one. However, when fully leveled it increases SDA by 60%.
Griffon
RDC
Same RDC as Queen Bee, feel free to replace Queen Bee for this stronger party member or boost your RDC even further.
Green Slime
SC
Slight increase in SC compared to Hell Butterfly. More importantly, this ally will help you progress further in its area.
Robbery Condor
SDA
Increases SDA significantly when fully leveled (100%).
Cowardly Knight
GDC, RDC
Gained by defeating the second guarding, increases Global Drop Chance by 5% when fully leveled and RDC by 150%. Replace Griffon when unlocked.
Prayer Assassin
SDC
Gained by defeating the second guarding, increases SDC by 20% when fully leveled. Feel free to replace Baby Dragon
Goblin Elite
RDC
Slight decrease of RDC compared to Griffon and Queen Bee, not worth adding.
Memory Eater
SC
Doubles SC compared to Green Slime. Feel free to replace Green slime.
Purple Slime
SC, RDC
The SC is the same as Memory Eater, BUT it increased RDC by 160% if fully leveled up. Replace Memory Eater with Purple Slime when unlocked.
Mud Wolf
SC. SDA
Slightly better SC as Purple Slime but has an additional SDA effect which is 160% when fully leveled.
Overdose Lizard
Dryad
Increases the Dryad effect compared to Brown slime by 10 times. If Brown Slime is still in the party, replace him.
Sacred Bird Chick
SC. SDA
Doubles SC compared to Mud wold, but has an additional SDA effect which is 250% when fully leveled. However, this enemy is rare. Add to the party when available.
Corrupted Great Bird
RDC
Has an RDC of 200% when fully leveled up. Replace Griffon, Cowardly Knight or Purple Slime when possible.
Revolutionary Witch
SDC, Dryad
Gained by defeating the third Guarding and gives an incredible boost of 30% SDC. Add to the party when possible due to the Dryad effect of 400% when fully leveled up, or replace Overdose Lizard.
Fallen Angel
Fairy
Gained by defeating the third Guarding and gives Arrogant Fairy effect of only 50% when fully leveled up, which may not be worth it, unless you need this ally for its other stats.
Judgement Emperor
RDC
Gained by defeating the third Guarding and boosts RDC by 200% when fully leveled up, replace Corrupted Great Bird if possible.
First Horn
SDC
Gained by defeating the fourth Guarding and gives an incredible boost of 40% SDC. Add to the party when possible.
Second Fang
GDC, RDC
Gained by defeating the fourth Guarding and gives an incredible boost of 250% RDC and 10% GDC when fully leveled up. Add to the party when possible or replace Judgement Emperor.

At this point your farming party will looks something like this:

  1. You
  2. First Horn
  3. Second Fang
  4. Revolutionary Witch
  5. Sacred Bird Chick
  6. Mud Wolf
  7. Prayer Assassin
  8. Robbery Condor
  9. Affectionate Left Arm
  10. Wyvern

NOTE that there are no allies in the list that boost RDA because there are only 4 allies that give that skill. If you feel the amount of research is low, replace a lower SDA or RDC for Sludge Slim.

Useful party members – Late

After redeeming the Evil City the journey goes onward to face even more powerful foes, and adding them to your party. This is where you will get the greatest gains.

Ace of Spades

Gained by defeating the fifth Guarding and gives an SDA boost of 100% and a SDC of a whopping 50%. On top of that there is also RDC of 300% when leveled up fully. Add to the party ASAP.
Joker
GDC
Gained by defeating the fifth Guarding and gives a GDC of 10% when fully leveled up.

Rage Goblin
SC
Lifts your meager capacity from 10k to 327k if fully leveled up. Also gives you the highest stats boost in the game.
Gray Slime
SC
Increases SC some what compared to Rage Goblin, but more importantly gives a RDC of 200% when fully leveled. Replace Rage Goblin when farming.
Smash Dragon
SC, SDA
Increases SC quite some compared to Gray Slime, but also gives a SDA of 300% when fully leveled.
Flame Flamingo
SC
Gives some more SC, but ignore this one and keep Smash Dragon.
Greedy Beast
SC
Has the highest SC in the game of 99.8M when fully leveled up, also the highest stats boost together with Rage Goblin. Add this to your party when possible.
Fairy Dragon
SC, SDA
This monster is very rare and requires some serieus effort to get fully leveled, since the research is hard to come by. However, grinding it is definilety worth it since it gives the highest SDA in the game of 400%. When available, replace Greedy Beast.

At this point your farming party will looks something like this:

  1. You
  2. Fairy Dragon
  3. Smash Dragon
  4. Ace of Spades
  5. Queen of Hearts
  6. Jack of Clubs
  7. First Horn
  8. Revolutionary Witch
  9. Sacred Bird Chick
  10. Mud Wolf

Farming strategy

To level up all allies to the maximum level requires a a bit more than 3 billion of each seed. So how do we get so many? And where do we get all that research from?

First up, party members, as discussed above, are your main source of getting (and storing) Seeds and Research. Beside the occasional Upgrade Action, they provide the means to increase drop chance and amount significantly, especially early on.

But there are other ways of increasing your Seed and Research gain.

Familiars

There are seven familiars that can help with the Seed and Research farming.

  • Physical Dryad
  • Intellectual Dryad
  • Artist’s Dryad
  • Cheerful Pixie
  • Calm Pixie
  • Carefree Pixie
  • Arrogant Fairy

The Pixies increase your Seed capacity, but will do so at the cost of the Dryads and Fairy, because the Familiar levels will be evenly spread. While farming, keep the Dryads and Fairy assigned, perhaps in combination with Summon Speed, especially in combination with party members that boost Dryads and the Fairy.

Will

‘Turn into fortune’ is the only Seeds related Will and increases the GDC by quite a bit after some grinding. However, it requires rank 39, which is hard to reach in the early stage of the game. When you’re a bit further in the game, this becomes an absolute necessity to invest in, considering you need lots of resources to increase various other main components of the game, such as Destiny.

Concerning Research, invest in ‘Train insight’ as soon as possible. It requires Habit level 32, which is somewhat easier to reach and will help you out a lot, especially early on.

Tamer

The Tamer provides useful boons as long as you don’t have all allies fully leveled up.

  • Monster researcher – Increases RDA
  • Stripping skill – Increases GDC
  • Breeder qualities – Increases SDC
  • Lucky tamer – Increases Rare enemy spawn chance, very helpful to find Mithril Bird and Fairy Dragon

Although Habit might be scarce to spend in early on, try to focus at least three Habit on the first three skills. Mid game, you simply cannot do runs without these and makes up for the previous lack of investment in Lucky tamer.

Greed

When Greed is unlocked you don’t have access to all options yet until late game. With every first defeat of a boss you’ll unlock the relevant Greed effect of that area. So if you don’t see the effect listed in your game, don’t worry, it will unlock in time. Don’t focus too much on area progression, reincarnations and pride challenges are more important early and mid game.

  • Drop chance+ (Spirit Spring)
  • Seed drop amount+ (Evil City)
  • Seed Max+ (Dragon Village)

With each Dark Ritual, spend about 1% of your research, not needed for summons, on the Greed effect. The first time you spend research on an effect will be the biggest gain, so don’t forget to spend that research after reincarnation. The amount required to level up the effect increases with each level, so be careful not to spend too much on accident!

Envy

Envy provides a good way to increase drop chance and amount permanently throughout reincarnations and makes it worth to spend quite some time grinding these levels when unlocked.

You can find these under the Charisma tab.

  • Research drop
  • Seeds drop
  • Resource drop

Harvesting complaints isn’t really going fast until late game, but try to upgrade these three to level 5 when possible.

Pride

There are a few Pride challenges like ‘Don’t need Envy’ and ‘Don’t need Gluttony’ that will increase your drop amount as well, but they only do so on the 5th clear. You will only be able to clear those challanges well into the late game, making it redundant for the purpose of this guide since you will most likely already have everything upgraded by then.

Farming runs

It is the most opportune moment to start farming when you finished the areas to the best of your ability. Configure your party with the help of the tables above and save it to a party template slot if available for later use.

Make sure the strongest members of the party are in the first five slots with fast skills that can kill an enemy in 1 hit. Set up your queue with at least 2 boss dungeons that you can kill quickly for quick Seed gains. Add other dungeons to boost current party members first. Don’t let yourself be distracted by hard dungeons where it takes multiple hits to kill an enemy just for a little bit of research. Although unlocking a new ally might be worth it, finding more research for summons isn’t if it takes too long to kill it. It will come in time, just be patient.

Setup your Familiars, Will, Tamer, perhaps even Greed and Envy if you haven’t already. To increase research, set the formation to Friendly Formation and let the farming begin.

DON’T FORGET TO SPEND YOUR SEEDS!

Auto Level Up Slots from the Shop can help, but might not be the best investment regarding in what stage of the game you are. Always priorities Party Slots first!

Dark Ritual

Farming Seeds and Research without Greed is useless unless you want to simultaneously farm Inspiration and Gluttony to break through a certain dungeon.

Try to let these runs go on for at least a day before you Dark Ritual. When you do, invest in Greed and start the run again.

If you are in the early stages of the game and don’t have that much Habit (and no Greed), just let the run go on for a few days until you are significantly stronger. Building up the Familiar level and Will capacity and speed takes precious time early on, so don’t worry if you have to let your runs go on for a little longer.

Don’t forget to consume the food drops from the dungeons in Gluttony.
