This guide will show you how to unlock the Blabbermouth achievement in The Inner World. This specific achievement requires players to talk to every possible character in Asposia at least once.
Introduction
So, you’re aiming for that achievement, but haven’t stumbled upon a guide that spells out the specific characters you must interact with. Been there, done that! I meticulously jotted down every NPC I chatted with during my playthrough, securing the achievement in the process. Now, some of these “characters” might blur the lines a bit, but let’s not delve into debates about whether machines possess sentience or if animals converse.
To ensure I covered all bases, I made sure to engage each character by opening their speech menu and clicking through until I exhausted at least one topic. This method assured me that I’d interacted with each specific character, especially considering some have extensive dialogue trees and variable options.
It’s crucial to note that you must converse with all these characters within a single playthrough, as you can’t backtrack through the chapters. Oh, and one significant heads-up: the achievement only pops once you’ve witnessed the final cutscene and rolled through the credits. So, no preemptive celebrations—you won’t know if you missed an NPC until the game wraps up.
Now, brace yourself and hop on your trusty Basylian, because we’re diving into one of the trickiest achievements this game has to offer.
Chapter 1
In Chapter one, you’ve got a whopping 12 NPCs to chat with. But fret not, this chapter boasts the highest count. At least 6 of these characters are must-talks:
- The Garbage Dealer
- Detze
- Barmaid Ottilie
- The Asposian with the cradle
- The Arms (Tailor)
- The Sin-O-Mat
Now, here are the remaining 6 characters to engage with a speech bubble:
- Wind Monk Maleus: Found gambling at the slot machine in Ottilie’s bar. You snatch his cloak for the Strawbear Yarn.
- The Wooloof: This creature naps next to Ottilie. Though he has a text box, he’s tight-lipped.
- The Sleeping Guest: Snoozes away in a yellow coat. Interactions won’t rouse him.
- The Guest: Enjoying a drink at the back of the bar, with a sign nearby hinting at stories.
- Guard 822: Spotted munching on a sandwich. He gives a heads-up about a Basylian attack and falls victim to your lunchbox theft.
- The Loge Guest: Snoozing on the railing in the Mechatheater, complete with a text box.
And let’s not forget Laura, whom you can converse with in her hideout, though Robert may intervene to keep things covert.
If you’ve managed to chat up all these characters in Chapter 1, kudos! That’s a wrap for this chapter.
Chapter 2
So, you’ve braved the crash landing and find yourself in the Root Forest. Luckily, luck’s on your side because every NPC in this chapter is a must-talk to progress. Here’s the lineup:
- Gorf (as Robert)
- Gorf (as Laura)
- Robert (as Laura)
- The Aerologists (as Laura)
Interestingly, attempting to converse with the monk is futile. But hey, who needs him anyway? Anyhow, this chapter is a breeze!
Chapter 3
In this chapter, the Aerologists conveniently left their map behind, aiding us in our treasure hunt! There are 4 NPCs to converse with, and once again, all are essential:
- Gorfelina
- Laura
- Steve
- Pete
As for the Dynasty, I can’t recall if they’re accessible at this point (though I doubt it), but since I unintentionally overlooked them and still nabbed the achievement, I reckon their presence doesn’t factor in. Anyhow, let’s uncover if our heroes make it through the fall!
Chapter 4
Technically, in this chapter, none of the characters are required to chat with, though you’ve probably interacted with them at some point. However, for the achievement, here are the NPCs you must engage with:
- The Mechanic Guard: Spotted in the very first room, engrossed in a blueprint with a knee injury. He’ll hand over the Allen Wrench and Clear Varnish.
- Sgt. Parakeet: Found in the second room, whistling to guide the Guards.
- The Lab Guard: Stationed in front of the lab. You can chat with him before giving him Laura’s Note and altering the posters.
- Laura: Located inside the lab. Not much dialogue, but a necessary interaction.
- Reminepo: Enclosed in the capsule in the lab. Engage with him twice for an additional achievement 😉
- The Weird Guy: The individual you need to deal with to rescue Reminepo. Surprisingly, you can converse with him.
As for the hedgehog pet in the Throne room, I’m uncertain if interaction is possible, but I didn’t chat with it and still secured the achievement. Nevertheless, with Laura and Reminepo petrified, it’s time to orchestrate our daring escape and rescue the Dynasty.
Chapter 5
After our successful escape, it’s time to rescue the Dynasty. However, before we proceed, there are a few individuals we must engage with. Out of the five people in total, these two are essential:
- Steve
- Pete
Now, onto the easily overlooked trio required for the achievement:
- Gorfelina: Located outside the Gate. Merely handing her the gum won’t suffice; you must initiate a conversation with her.
- The Dynasty: You can converse with them while they’re still statues, but be sure to do so BEFORE hanging up the disco ball.
- Conroy: During the Conroy encounter, you can delve into several topics with him. This should be the last NPC you need to interact with to clinch the achievement.
With the world saved, our mission is accomplished!
Conclusion
That wraps it up! Sit back and enjoy the final cutscene as the credits roll. If you’ve followed my guide diligently on a fresh file, you should now have the coveted Blabbermouth achievement. Remember, it’ll only pop once the final cutscene and credits conclude.
I appreciate you taking the time to peruse this guide, even years after the game’s release, and I wish you a fantastic day!
P.S. If anyone desires, I can include screenshots pinpointing the exact locations of the NPCs. Just drop a comment, and I’ll make sure to add them.
