Hey there! I’d like to tell you about some cool things I’ve figured out while spending time playing Soulstone Survivors!
Hi! I want to give some advice to people who are just starting their journey in this game. These are just my own thoughts on basic runes that I think are useful, no matter which class you’re playing. If you want to unlock more options and finish all achievements, you’ll need to get all classes to level 70 and create each weapon tier for them. Right now, I only have 3 classes at level 70, and the others are at 20 or above. But I hope you find this guide enjoyable!
Unlocking runic power and runes
To first get runic power, you have to go through unlocking all the maps and filling out the “basic” skill tree, which is the one in the middle of the map. Once you finish that, you can start unlocking the runic power node at the top of this basic skill tree.
The symbol I used for the profile picture in this guide is the basic runic power unlock, and I’ll show it again below:
A good tip is, while you’re leveling up the basic tree, make sure to unlock each map and clear it on normal difficulty. Also, try to finish wave three of both overload (the red map portal when the map is complete) and infinity (the purple portal) modes. It’s easier to clear these on wave 3 without any curses, especially if you’re a new player and don’t have a lot of options with skills or classes.
Unlocking new runes via each class
As you play and level up in the game, unlocking achievements will also give you more rune options and/or runic power. As you go beyond level 20 with each class’s prestige, you’ll earn skill points to use in that class’s skill tree. Your goal is to start with the middle of the tree, where some rune options can be found (look for the green background icons directly in the middle path):
The very first skill you unlock in the prestige tree will also give you a special class feature for each class. This can change how each class plays and provide significant buffs, like boosting the strength of the Necromancer’s abominations.
Along with the green runes in the middle of each class’s skill tree, focus on unlocking nodes with a blue border. These nodes unlock bonuses that apply to ALL characters on your account, adding up to a significant power increase once you unlock every option like this. Here’s an example of those nodes:
At the top of the rune screen, there’s a section called versatility.
These are all 0-cost runes that offer important advantages affecting your gameplay. Let’s check out some of the ones I find most useful:
Weapon Expert: This allows you to start with the 2 active skills of your currently equipped weapon. It’s super helpful because without it, you’ll begin each match with only the first active skill of your weapon, making it slower to defeat enemies at the start. So, grab that extra skill to take down early enemies faster. You can always replace those active skills later if you want.
Moving on, there’s a special rune that becomes available when you reach a higher level in the prestigious arcane weaver tree:
This particular symbol is excellent for gathering the materials needed to craft various weapons.
Additionally, there are three significant runes with zero cost: skill inclination, skill affinity, and skill mastery. I plan to dedicate individual sections in this guide for each of these runes. Each section will include images and detailed explanations to make it easy for you to navigate and find the information you need.
Skill inclination is a rune that doesn’t cost anything and offers versatility
Its power allows you to concentrate on a specific group of skills, helping you establish a character build more quickly, especially during the initial stages of the game.
There are various categories to choose from, but it’s essential to note that you must reach level 60 or higher in each class to unlock these categories. This means you’ll need to invest a significant amount of time before fully utilizing this rune. Despite the time commitment, it’s a valuable rune to develop. If you’re aiming to complete all the achievements in the game, you’ll naturally unlock the full potential of this rune.
Skill affinity is another versatile rune that doesn’t cost anything, and it comes with the following power:
It’s crucial to understand that this power only applies to the initial selection of an active power in a match. While it works only once, you can strategically use it to acquire a crucial power for your desired build if you have a specific focus in mind.
Here are the available categories you can choose from:
To unlock the full potential of this rune, you’ll need to attain a level of 30 or higher in each class. If you’re aiming for 100% completion of achievements, you’ll naturally unlock this rune as you progress in the game.
Skill mastery, the final rune in the lineup of 0 cost versatility runes, comes with the following power:
This particular rune stands out as one of the most valuable among the zero-cost “skill” runes. It’s especially beneficial for seeking buffs like arcane power or essential abilities such as exorcism, particularly on classes that wouldn’t typically have access to them, such as necromancers, and so on. An illustration of how this works is provided below:
Feel free to explore each category once unlocked, examining all the available options. Additional skills will become accessible as you level up, unlock new classes, forge their weapons, and achieve secret accomplishments. For details on the secret achievements, please consult the guides created by other users for the permanent holiday event.
Let’s talk about tenacity runes, which make up the second section of the rune screen situated below the versatility runes. As you progress through maps, curse levels, and classes, most of these runes become available. Among the numerous options, I want to highlight four runes that I find particularly useful:
Firstly, dash mastery proves highly beneficial for navigating maps, allowing you to evade large attacks and efficiently collect resources. The additional distance can be especially advantageous against certain boss attacks.
Next, ready for battle assists in swiftly setting up your build during the initial minutes of a match. This can be crucial, especially when facing more challenging curse difficulties.
Surefooted is a staple on all of my characters, offering essential damage reduction and knockback resistance. It’s a must-have for various situations.
Lastly, lord’s bane comes into play during higher curse difficulties or overload mode, where having three or more lords active in each wave is a constant challenge. This rune proves particularly useful in such scenarios.
While there are undoubtedly other valuable runes, these recommendations are based on their general usefulness across all classes. I welcome feedback and appreciate any constructive comments. If there’s sufficient interest, I may consider creating a comprehensive guide detailing each rune once I’ve unlocked them all in the near future. I hope you found this guide enjoyable!
