This guide serves as a beginner’s introduction to One Lonely Outpost, providing an overview of the game’s basics and guiding players through their initial gameplay experience.

HUD Explanation

  2. Season Indicator: Represents an icon indicating the current season (may not be confirmed).
  3. Energy Bar: Indicates the remaining energy for the day. Maximum energy can be decreased based on certain factors.
  4. Money: Displays the player’s current amount of money.
  5. OmniStars: Shows the quantity of OmniStars owned, which are necessary for progressing through the story.
  6. Current Objective: Displays the ongoing objective if the player is actively working on one.

  8. Water Tank: Indicates the water level in the Spray Tool. The capacity of the tank can be expanded through later game upgrades.
  9. Matter Manipulator Tool: Used for tilling soil in preparation for farming.
  10. Mining Laser Tool: Enables mining rocks, destroying crops, and picking up placed machines.
  11. Spray Tool: Used for watering crops by spraying water. It depletes the water tank, which can be refilled by using the Mining Laser on Ice Crystals.
  12. Gust Tool: Utilized for blowing away Dust Piles for archaeology and tilled soil.
  13. Survey Marker: Identifies survey points when discovering new areas.
  14. Hotbar: Allows the player to keep items readily accessible for quick use, separate from the inventory.

Your First Day

Begin by mining regular Stone, avoiding special resources for now. Shortly after, an email will be received, providing the first objective: earning “Geology OmniStars” by mining unique materials and “Archeology OmniStars” by clearing Dust Piles.

Start with the Geology OmniStars. Select the Mining Laser (press X) and use it on Iron, Copper, and Basalt located directly southwest of your Ship.

Obtaining the Archaeology OmniStars is slightly more challenging. Look for piles of dust in the area. Equip the Gust Tool (press V) and blow away piles until you discover three unique objects to complete the objective.

Surveying the Land

On your first day, you’ll receive a second objective: surveying the Farmstead. Walk to three waypoints indicated by white circles in the area. The first is located northwest, the second southwest, and the third even further southwest. Collect all three waypoints to complete the objective.

After completing both objectives, you’re free to explore your Farmstead. Note that your Energy will have decreased, and it can only be restored with food, which you don’t have yet. It is recommended to use the remaining Energy to clear out objects in the field south of your Ship, excluding the Ice Crystals. Once your Energy is nearly depleted, go to sleep in your Ship.

Day 3 – The Earthquake and Beyond

On Day 3, you and Qwerty will experience an earthquake, which opens up new sections of the map for exploration.

Ensure to tend to your crops daily. Then, take your time exploring the newly accessible areas of the map and gather unique resources found in each region.

An important note: Avoid immediately smelting all acquired ore. Keep 5 to 10 pieces of each ore in their natural form. The overworld’s ore availability is limited, and early-game crafting recipes require ore. Infinite ore can be obtained once the mine is unlocked later in the story.
