Here’s a guide to help you out when battling bosses in Noita. Spoiler alert: we’ll be diving into some strategies, so brace yourself! We won’t be covering Kolmisilmä because, well, he’s not too tough, and it’d take ages to cover every orb level.
Boss fights in Noita can be intense. One crucial tip is to always stay on your toes. These battles are fast-paced, and the bosses hit hard. Keep moving to avoid their attacks and find openings to strike back.
Kolmisilman koipi/Pyramid Boss
Koipi, the Pyramid Boss, is quite the pushover in the realm of bosses. He only boasts four attacks, none of which are particularly threatening. First, he tends to summon two minions, which, despite being downright dim-witted, always manage to land a hit on me. Then, he’ll crack open his shell and choose from two attack options: either unleashing a flurry of spiraling projectiles or launching a single large homing projectile. If you get too close, he might also give you a poke with his spidery leg. But fear not, these attacks don’t deal much damage and are fairly easy to avoid. The simplest strategy to defeat him is by using plasma, which conveniently bypasses his invulnerability during projectile attacks. You can often find plasma in the Mines. If you don’t have plasma, though, any weapon will suffice as long as you can dodge effectively. Honestly, there isn’t much more to say about him.
His drops include:
- One wand from the Hiisi Base tier
- Four spells labeled as “Random ___” and possibly one from Nolla
- One Extra HP boost
Ylialkemisti/Alchemist Boss
Ylialkemisti, possibly one of the earliest bosses you’ll face after the pyramid boss, isn’t too much of a challenge. His main attack involves shooting a purple projectile that spawns three spectral wands. These wands then unleash one of four spells: Meteor, Lightning Bolt, three Pinpoints of Light, or 4 unique purple spells. He’s also equipped with a rather annoying shield that catches and throws projectiles back at you. However, every 10 seconds, he drops his shield momentarily. The catch? If you deal at least 50 damage, he immediately raises it again. To defeat him, you’ll need either a high-damage trigger wand or some “personal thrower” spells. The trigger wand is straightforward — if you can deal a hefty amount of damage in one shot, victory is yours. Electric damage tends to be most effective, as he’s not resistant to it. The thrower spells, though unconventional, can also work if you’re keen on acquiring those fancy Greek letter spells. Just make sure you have a clear escape route once you start hitting him.
Upon his demise, he’ll drop:
- The Crystal Key (for divide-by spells)
- Four Greek Letter spells or, on rare occasions, Wand Refresh
Suomuhauki/Dragon Boss
Suomuhauki, another contender for the first boss encounter, is conveniently located to the right of the jungle. He boasts three main attacks: fire breath (pretty self-explanatory), six slow projectiles from his tail, and a nasty bite. Beware: the bite packs a punch, delivering over 3,000 DPS, unlike the solid damage dealt by other worm enemies. Without melee immunity, this bite can be lethal. However, any weapon can dispatch him, as he lacks significant resistances. The most efficient method is to freeze him and then kick him. Spells like freezing gaze, circle of stillness, or freeze charge combined with a kick or tentacle will make short work of him.
His loot consists of:
- One max HP boost
- A random jungle-tier wand
- Any “___ orbit” spell
Gate Guardian (No official in-game name)
The Gate Guardian is a rather unique boss, comprised of four separate pieces. It doesn’t rely on traditional attacks but instead relentlessly pursues you with an aura that inflicts curse damage. Your best bet for defeating this boss is to use any matter-erasing spell, as each piece of the Gate Guardian is technically a physics object. However, be aware that killing it this way might not register progress, as you’re essentially just obliterating physics objects. Explosion or slicing damage can also be effective, so a well-equipped explosion or chainsaw wand can make quick work of each piece.
All four pieces drop:
- 200-300 gold
- Any unlocked spell (except those with a 0% drop chance)
Side note: Matosade can instantly obliterate all pieces of the Gate Guardian, but as mentioned earlier, this method likely won’t register progress for defeating them.
Sauvojen Tuntija/Wand Connoisseur
Ah, the Wand Connoisseur, also known as the pit boss or Squidward by some. He’s often the first boss players stumble upon, albeit unintentionally. Watch out, though; he’s got some seriously dangerous moves up his sleeve, including homing polymorph shots. His attacks mainly involve firing off various spells from wands and unleashing 8 homing projectiles capable of blinding, polymorphing, or giving you teleportitis. Whenever you manage to land a hit on him, he swiftly raises a shield for about a second. He’s quite the tank, so be prepared for a tough fight. However, he does have a major weakness: spells that deal self-damage. Your best bet for defeating him efficiently is to use such spells, particularly plasma or omega sawblades. Plasma is highly effective, although it can be tricky to hit him without a timer. As for omega sawblades, please ensure you have Proj. Repulsion field or teleports handy to dodge the self-homing sawblades afterward and avoid being turned into purple spaghetti noodles.
Squidward’s drops include:
- One extra HP
- Matosade and Meteorisade (but please don’t put omega on them like I did)
- One high-tier wand
Mestarien Mestari/Master of Masters
A somewhat hidden boss, but well worth seeking out for his valuable drops. He’s tucked away in the far lower right edge of the map and poses a significant challenge. He features three different phases, each with its own quirks. In the first phase, he’s surrounded by four rotating purple orbs, each of which must be destroyed to make him vulnerable. Once vulnerable, he unleashes a variety of attacks, including duplicating phasing projectiles, a volley of extremely dangerous magical projectiles (including polymorph shots), summoning random mage enemies, and inflicting you with various magical debuffs (except polymorphing, but including nullifying your wands). In the second phase, his helmet comes off, adding a new attack: throwing easily dodgeable tentacles. After that, his head explodes, and he relentlessly chases you while hurling tentacles all over the place, which can be deadly without melee immunity. Throughout the fight, he also has four red orbs that damage you for the amount you damage them, so accuracy is key. Any accurate wand that doesn’t explode can be effective, but if you’re looking to cheese him, sea of acid from above the arena can do the trick. If you’re using a wand to defeat him, remember that he can only be harmed by shooting his head, as his body deletes projectiles.
His drops consist of:
- The four “Add ___” spells
- The supremely powerful Sauvan Ydin (edit wands anywhere!)
Limatoukka/Tiny
Unless you have melee immunity, it’s best to avoid fighting Tiny altogether, as his bite can instantly spell doom. He’s the largest enemy in the game and packs a serious punch with his bite attack, which deals a hefty amount of damage. He also fires homing projectiles, but those are nothing compared to the devastation of his bite. Projectile and explosion damage won’t faze him; thunder damage from thunder charge or lightning is your best bet. Just two thunder charges with piercing shot or slice damage from an omega sawblade can take him down. Be cautious, though, as using slice damage will make him bleed more, and his ominous liquid bleed can be extremely dangerous.
Note: In the main branch, Tiny is located far below the desert chasm, but in the beta, he resides in the eastern meat realm.
His drops include:
- Two Max HP boosts
- Two wands, one Temple-tier and one rare Tier-10 wand (the only way to find this!)
- One Full Heal (doesn’t work in beta unless you beat another boss)
Kolmisilman Sydän/Meatball
This boss, found in the western meat realm, is a bit different from the pyramid boss despite their similar appearance. When attacking, Kolmisilman Sydän closes its eye instead of opening it like the pyramid boss. It also has a defensive shield when vulnerable, but short-range homing modifiers can easily bypass it. Its only attack consists of firing a volley of 7-8 homing pus balls, which move relatively slowly but release poisonous pus upon expiration. While it’s immune to electric damage, it’s weak against fire and slice damage, making those effective choices for defeating it. Alternatively, freezing it and kicking it to death is another option, albeit a more challenging one.
Its drops include:
- The Saha/chainsaw Wand
- Lifting the curse of the Meat realm, allowing healing there
Unohdettu/The Forgotten
Unohdettu and its minions are only tangible if you drop the Paha Silmä nearby. Its attacks are manageable, but the main hazard is the enemies it summons. Be cautious not to use rapid-fire wands against it, as its “revenge plasma” attack scales in both damage and area when it takes damage. High-damage single-shot wands work best against it, but be mindful of its immunity to projectiles and resistance to other damage types. Piercing thunder charges or crushing damage from earthquakes can also be effective.
It drops:
- One Full Heal
- The Auringonsiemen (start of sun quest)
Tapion Vasalli/Deer Boss
The Deer Boss spawns on the lake island after killing at least 30 harmless animals. Its health and damage scale with the number of animals killed. It has three attacks, including a dangerous projectile and reflection damage. Ambrosia is recommended for defeating it due to its scaling damage and dangerous attacks.
Its drops consist of:
- A handful of gold, depending on animals killed
- Muodonmuutos spell
Syvaolento/Lake Boss
Syvaolento is immune to almost everything, except for slice damage. Weakening curses, particularly electricity weakening curse, are effective against it. Omega sawblades or other high-damage slice spells can also work.
Its drops include:
- One Great Treasure chest
- One Full heal
- A portal to the fast travel room
Kolmisilman Silmä/Mecha Kolmi
This boss is best dealt with using piercing thunder charge. Additionally, it drops the spatial awareness perk.
Toveri/Friend
While I haven’t fought this boss personally, weakening curses seem to affect it according to the Wiki. Any incredibly high-damage wand with proj. Weakening curse may work against it.
It doesn’t drop anything.
