Ice Towers often have a reputation for not being particularly effective, especially when compared to Glue Gunners. However, it would be a mistake to underestimate the potential of Ice Towers.

Uses of the Ice Tower

Ice Towers are most valuable during mid-to-late-game waves, when ceramic and regrow balloons become prevalent. These balloons tend to be faster and travel in groups. The advantage of Ice Towers lies in their ability to freeze multiple balloons simultaneously, allowing slower towers to catch up.

Limitations of the Ice Tower

Unsurprisingly, Ice Towers suffer from slowness, and their main weakness lies in their initial lack of power without upgrades. Basic Ice Towers can only handle balloons up to the speed of yellow ones. However, this drawback can be overcome by strategically reserving them for later waves when their freezing capabilities are truly needed.

The optimal upgrade path, without question, is the Arctic Winds upgrade. This upgrade not only slows down all balloons but also completely immobilizes the later waves of Ceramics that would otherwise pose a significant threat.

Additionally, Ice Towers can be useful in dealing with the ceramics released by M.O.A.Bs, serving as a viable defense against them.

Tech of the Ice Tower

There are some interesting strategies that can be employed when utilizing Ice Towers.

By placing an Ice Tower next to a Spike Factory, both towers can effectively enhance each other’s efficiency, creating a powerful combination that can effectively immobilize anything except blimps.

Another effective pairing is the Assault-Rifle Sniper Monkey. The Sniper Monkey’s ability to quickly eliminate the initial balloons on the track, combined with the fact that frozen balloons cannot move, can result in a devastating icy assault.

Furthermore, although rarely necessary, the Glue Gunner can be utilized alongside the Ice Tower. The combined effect of slowing down balloons with ice and dousing them with acid creates a highly undesirable situation for the balloons.

Conclusion

Equipped with this knowledge about Ice Towers, you are now well-prepared to bring a winter storm to Terracotta Land!
