TLDR: This guide is intended to serve as a breakdown of which tools and weapons are the most useful/viable to unlock and use in the World of Assassination Trilogy. There are A LOT of unlocks in this game. Suits, Guns, Tools, Distractions devices, Explosives and others can serve to intimidate new players as it feels like to be successful in the game you will need to grind like crazy to unlock viable tools in order to succeed. HOWEVER this really couldnt be further from the truth.
In reality, I would say that only 5% of all the unlockable items in the game actually serve a unique purpose and will be used regularly by players. The game has a LOT of reskins, Many key items such as the lockpick, Poisons and silenced pistols have a stupidly large amount of cosmetic variations. If you care about cosmetics and collecting everything then go ahead and unlock then. However to play well you only need ONE of each tool that I will mention below.
I hope this serves to ease new players from the overwhelming arsenal that the game presents. I have tried to keep it condensed and easy to read. I could also add pictures if people like. Comment if you have any feedback, corrections or comments!
Tools
Variation = Different Cosmetic skins
ICA Lockpick (5 Variations)
This one is pretty self explanatory, you can use this to open any KEY locked doors and get into areas that you normally wouldnt be able to enter without a key, crowbar or explosive.
Easiest methods to obtain it?
– Complete 3 Mission Stories in “The Final Test” Mission (Tutorial Area)

-Reach Mastery level 2 in Miami

-Reach Mastery level 2 in Dartmoor
ICA Crowbar (1 Variation)
While there is only one way to get this item, it is VERY useful as it serves multiple uses.
It can do the following:
1) Break open key locked doors.
2) Be thrown as a non-lethal melee weapon.
3) Open manhole covers to allow for quick exfiltration (IF the map has them.)
Its basically a loud lockpick with knock-out capabilities.

– The only way to unlock this is by reaching Mastery level 18 in Whittleton Creek
Electronic Key Hacker (3 Variations)
This is basically a lockpick for keycard doors. When a door requires a security keycard instead of a key, use this!

– Reach Mastery level 10 in Colorado

Coin (5 Variations)
This distraction item is incredibly powerful as not only does it lure npcs and targets alike, they will also follow any “trails” of coins you leave for them. With this trick you can easily lead targets to precarious ledges, under chandeliers, towards a dump chest, away from guards and many many more tactics.

The Base Coin is available immediately to players!
EMP Charge (1 Variation)
While you can only obtain this Item from Mastery 10 in Mumbai (Hitman 2 Map), it has soo many uses. I will list them below:
1) Unlocking Keycard Doors without drawing attention to yourself
2) igniting Propane Flasks and Fire Extinguishers.
3) Ignite Oil Leaks and Electrify Water Puddles.
4) Disabling Camera Recorders at Security Stations
5) Turning off and on electronic devices such as vacuum cleaners and wall switches.
As you can see, this Item is incredibly versatile and while obtaining it may be a bit of a grind for many players, the payoff is definetely worth it. If you think about it, it is 3 Tools in 1!
Poisons
Lethal Syringe (4 Variations)
Lethal Vial / Pills (4 Variations) + Black Almond Dagger
Lethal Poisons are great as whenever a target ingests or is injected by one, they will quickly collapse and their death will be counted as an “accident”, which means it will NOT affect your Silent Assassin rating (If you care about score). Just make sure not to be spotted injecting poison into someones ass or you will really piss off guards!

The Black Almond’s Pirate Dagger is basically a lethal melee weapon AND a lethal poison Vial built into one. Its quite niche imo as you can normally find many lethal melee weapons through each map, however the addition of having a lethal poison dose is perfect if you want to poison a drink or food.
The only way to obtain it is by Reaching Mastery Level 15 in Haven Island.
Emetic Syringe (5 Variations)
Emetic Vial / Pills (3 Variations)
Instead of just killing your target as mentioned above, Anything with the label “Emetic” will makle them Ill to the point of seeking out a toilet or bin to throw up in. This is very useful for moving them away from guards, disrupting their loop and setting traps. You can also drown them in the toilet while they are puking their guts out (Gross!) and it will count as an accident kill!

Sieker1 Emetic Dart-gun (1 Variation)
This beauty is incredibly versatile and basically works as an emetic syringe but from range!
The only drawback is that it only comes with 2 darts and has horrific drop off when firing from a distance. However I highly recommend this as you can simply find an angle where no one can see you and shoot your target or their bodyguard(s) with the icky darts!
Easiest methods to obtain it?
Unfortunately the only way to obtain this item is by Reaching Mastery Level 10 in Haven Island.
(But Its totally worth it!)
Explosives
Breaching Charge (2 Variations)
This is an explosive with a very powerful ability. It is completely silent! This is extremely useful for blowing up targets without noise, opening doors, triggering larger explosives such as propane flasks, oil barrels and oil lamps. Keep in mind that the con of using this explosive is that its blast has a very small radius (around half a meter).

ICA Remote Explosive / Remote Explosive Rubber Ruck (8 Variations)
This fantastic Item serves as a remotely detonated bomb that can activate, destroy and eliminate from the other side of the map. Keep in mind that a target killed by a RE explosive will void your Silent assassin rating ( Only if their body is found). The Radius of these explosions is a lot bigger than the aforementioned Breaching Charge so dont get too close when pressing the trigger! (The Rubber Duck Variants of the RE Explosive are not illegal to place, drop or throw!)
On a side note, dont ever, EVER use Proximity Explosives in the game. They are wildy inconsistent and cant be picked up once dropped/ placed.

Firearms
Krugermeier 2-2 – Subsonic Pistol (3 Variations)
This awesome little gun may have garbage damage but man is it quiet. It can take out cameras, triggers explosives, headshot targets, set off traps and even cause an audible distraction when shot once near someone. It is a very versatile gun that may not have your back when it comes to shootouts, but helps you out when you need to perform actions from range without arousing much attention.

DAK X2 Covert – Silenced SMG (3 Variations)
This little thing packs quite a punch with it comes to taking out enemies, opening (key)locked doors, panicking NPCs, taking out cameras and hastily blowing up something. I highly recommend this if the map contains many locked doors and you cant bring a lockpick for whatever reason.
While it very innaccurate due to the recoil, its uses more than make up for it. The BEST part of this weapon is that it is the ONLY gun in the game apart from pistols that can be holstered in your inventory. (No need to open carry!) As far as I am aware anyway.

Other
This one is a little bit niche, however it has a very cool trick which is that when you garrote a target, you will then automatically enter the body dragging animation, this is also FASTER than just dragging a body normally. Its very useful when your target is isolated AND near a dump chest.

You should automatically have the base version of the Fiber Wire in your game.!
Briefcase (11 Variations, there could be more, Im not sure)
Any kind of briefcase will do, you can easily unlock this early in the game and it is useful for a very long time!
Basically, the briefcase allows you to bring large weapons and guns into missions without relying on the inconvinience of the “Agency Pickup”. This also allows you to “smuggle” Illegal items past braindead guards at a frisk-zone. Simply put the incriminating briefcase at your feet before being frisked and then pick it up afterwards! It seems to be yet another idiotic oversight by IO..

ICA Remote Taser/ Micro Taser (2 Variations)
This handy item serves as a fast and easy way to electrify puddles of water that your target is standing in or will be standing in. Its a great trap item that can ignite gas leaks, oil spills and a few other explosives. However its main use is to turn an innocent puddle of water into a very dangerous place for the targets and you!
Bonus: The main difference between the Standard and Micro Remote Tasers is that the Micro Taser is not Illegal to pickup, place or throw. This makes it technically superior, however any of the 2 will do as long as you are observant of your surroundings!
