Rare tricks and strategies that you may not know about in Forewarned.

Ambient Threats

Torch Hitboxes

  • The torch has a better range than you might think. If you aim a little to the left, you’ll have an increased range.
  • In Forewarned, all equipable items physically exist in your hand. Unlike some other games, swinging the torch doesn’t cast a ray from the center of your screen. In Forewarned, hitting the enemy with the actual torch matters. Since the torch is on the right side of the screen, moving your camera left makes it easier to hit enemies. So, aim with the torch, not the crosshair.
  • This applies to all other equipment as well, including items like the heka amulet and metal detector.

Reanimated Corpses

  • Reanimated corpses are found in the TNT area of the Sand-Spider tomb variation.
  • They behave like sprinting mummies. To avoid getting injured when one targets you, you can bait an attack and wait until it swings twice (once for each arm), then safely attack with your torch.
  • An effective method is to stealth-kill them. They only aggro and lock onto a player once their getting-up animation is complete. You can stand behind them until the animation finishes, after which they will slowly walk away, allowing you to easily set them on fire.

The Snake

  • You can blow up the snake before it even leaves its hole.

Mejai

Inner Tomb Mejai Name Selection

  • The names of the Mejai are always in the same order: Rathos | Necreph, Dekan | Talgor, Ouphris | Ataimon.

Difficulty Level’s Effect on Mejai

  • The selected difficulty also affects Mejai’s unique abilities. For instance, it influences how far Dekan can hear, how fast Ouphris attacks, or how quickly Rathos’ rage meter fills up.

Specific Mejai Tricks

  • You can still run vs Dekan; just stop when you hear footsteps coming closer. Even if Dekan hears you, you can move away from that location without making noise, and Dekan will try to attack where you used to be.
  • Torches are still useful vs Talgor. He absorbs flames instead of extinguishing them. When he does so, the flames visibly get sucked into him, indicating where he’s coming from.
  • You can blind Ataimon with the camera flash.

Maps

There are five unique tomb variations, each with two versions: one tutorial tomb, one with snakes, one with sand and spiders, one with water and crocodiles, and one with abominations and nightmares.

Getting Lost?

A good strategy to ensure you’ve explored 100% of the tomb is to follow one wall. This might go wrong on older tombs, where occasionally a loop spawns. In such cases, hugging one wall might lead to missing rooms inside the loop or being stuck in it until you change walls.

Ushabti Puzzles

Memory Puzzle

  • A useful trick for all three stages of the memory puzzle is to remember as many symbols as possible and convert the remaining symbols into numbers based on their location on the wall. This is because our brains find it easier to store 5 words and 3 numbers than 8 words.

Directional Head Puzzle

  • The direction of north may vary, but the orientation of the heads remains the same. The order is Baboon (monkey), Anubis (jackal), Pharaoh (human), and Horus (falcon) for north, east, south, and west, respectively.

Laser Puzzle

  • The solution is consistent for each tomb variation, so you can remember it.

Extras

  • To get most of your equipment back to level V after prestiging, make sure to prestige when you have at least around 38,000 gold.
  • In the windowed room with the relic collection, there are 10 shelves for up to 50 Ushabtis. It’s not one shelf per map, as it’s random each time, and Ushabtis are not reset when prestiging.
