This guide will show you how to unlock and get all achievements in Firewatch. Before we start, it’s important to know that this game has some problems with certain achievements not showing up when you earn them. I discovered a few solutions that personally helped me ensure my achievements appeared when I earned them. It’s really important that you follow these steps, or you might not get your achievements.
- Don’t Tab Out Of Game – Some people online have had trouble getting their achievements after repeatedly tabbing out of the game. To avoid this, make sure you don’t tab out once you’re in the game. It’s better to save and exit the game instead of tabbing out.
- Turn Off Autosave – This strangely worked for me. Turning off autosave can help ensure your achievements show up. Just be sure to save manually from time to time to make up for the lack of autosaves. You can find the option to turn off autosaves in the settings section when you first open the game.
- Save Before You Reach An Achievement – I’ll guide you to the places you need to reach for each achievement. Make sure to save right before you reach it. This way, if the achievement doesn’t show up, you can reload the game and try again.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask them in the comments. Also, share any other solutions you’ve found to make sure you get the achievements.
Note: Some achievements will be labeled as “missable,” and you can achieve them during free-roam after beating the game. However, this guide is for those who want to complete the whole game in one go without needing to clean up afterward, hence the use of the term “missable.”
List Of Achievements
These are the achievements that we are about to get. The game features a total of 10 achievements, consisting of story-related achievements and missable achievements.
STORY (UNMISSABLE)
These achievements will be automatically awarded to you after finishing each required day. You don’t need to do anything special to get them; just play the game as usual.
MISSABLE
You can still earn these achievements after finishing the game. However, if you aim to complete everything in a single run without having to go back, these achievements are the ones you might miss if you’re not careful. This guide is created with the assumption that you want to achieve everything in one continuous playthrough.
Day 1
Day 1 is super straightforward. Play the game as you normally would, without worrying about missing anything because there are no collectible achievements that you’ll need to go back for later. Just relax and enjoy your new game and its beautiful world.
Day 2
This day includes achievements that can be missed, and you need to collect them during the story. Here’s how to obtain both of them.
After finding the cut line, you’ll start making your way down a path. After walking for a bit, you’ll come across a fork in the road, allowing you to go left or right. Choose the left path and look ahead for a log that can be used as a bridge. Just after, you’ll notice a bag hanging from a tree that you can grab. Save the game before grabbing the camera. Once you have the camera, use all available photos to take pictures. When you run out, the achievement should pop. If it doesn’t, reload the game and try again. It might take a few tries to unlock.
Upon reaching Aspen Grove, you’ll spot two tall pine trees with a substantial boulder between them. On this boulder, you’ll find a turtle that you can adopt. These trees face north of the grove, so you can use your compass to locate them. There’s a possibility that the turtle won’t spawn on the rock. Don’t fret; simply save the game before reaching the rock and reload to try again. It should spawn after a couple of attempts, as it did for me.
Day 3-76
Initially, it might seem strange that all these days are given a section, but you don’t actually play them all. There are no achievements during these days that you need to obtain besides completing day 76, so just relax and continue playing.
Day 77
Okay, let’s get back to hunting for achievements! There’s a lot to do on this day, so get ready for an adventure. We’ll begin by going the opposite way the game directs us, so make sure you’re prepared!
To start, go north from the watchtower to the area marked on the map with a red circle. You’ll encounter a fork in the road along the paths, as indicated on the map. Once there, you’ll notice an area to your left with a bush to walk through and some wood to break with your axe (refer to the second photo for guidance). At this spot, you’ll find a campsite with the cassette. Remember to save the game before grabbing the cassette, just in case the achievement doesn’t register.
Luckily, the next achievement to get is also here, but now to your right. You’ll notice an outhouse with a cabin in the distance behind it. Head over to the cabin and go down the stairs inside. Once downstairs, you’ll find a stove to open and a raccoon ready to bite you. As always, I recommend saving before opening the stove just in case. From here, you can continue playing the game as usual and follow the game’s instructions.
This achievement is pretty straightforward and will likely be unlocked by most people playing naturally. Once you break open the fence during the story, there will be a box right at the entrance for you to open. Upon opening it, you’ll get stung by a bee, and the achievement will be unlocked.
Day 78-79
Simply continue playing through the rest of the game, and you’ll be done once you finish Day 79. If you’ve been following the guide up until now, this will be the final achievement you unlock. Congratulations on fully completing the game!
