This guide will show you how to unlock the achievement called “The Cult Lies Beneath” in Ember, which is tied to a side quest in the game.
How to Unlock The Cult Lies Beneath
To start the mission, you need to locate the Thieves Guild beneath the city. Don’t worry, it’s part of the main storyline, so you’ll stumble upon it eventually.
After you’ve finished the main storyline involving the Thieves Guild, it’s crucial to remember where the trap door is because it won’t be highlighted in side quests. I had a tough time rediscovering it myself because I didn’t anticipate needing to return there, and the side quest doesn’t offer any hints about its location.
If you’re having trouble finding the trapdoor again, here’s its location from an earlier main quest save: Look for the Green Main Quest Marker.
Before returning to the Thieves Guild, you’ll need to kick off the quest by locating a citizen named Anna Benclain. She can be found in the City of Light, marked with a Red Your Location Marker. Keep an eye out for her there.
Once you find Anna, she’ll task you with a quick mission to take down some adversaries. Upon completion, return to her. After a bit of dialogue, she’ll direct you to Marla, who resides in the City of Light as well, not too distant from your current location. Pay Marla a visit, and she’ll initiate the mission to venture into the sewers to track down the Cultists. Get ready for the next leg of your adventure!
When you reach the trapdoor, descend beneath the city. Ignore the arrows painted around and head in the opposite direction. If you come across a massive, intimidating spider, you’re heading the right way. Prepare for a fight against it. After defeating the spider, you’ll inevitably come across Alicia. She’ll provide you with a key. Use it to unlock the gate and proceed to engage in a slaying spree, taking down all the cultists in your path. Once you’ve dealt with them, return to Alicia, and the achievement will be yours. Keep up the good work!
