Dokapon Kingdom is in dire need of a comprehensive manual. This guide aims to provide essential information covering aspects such as character statistics, character progression, fundamental gameplay principles, and more.
A substantial portion of the content within this guide has been sourced from the Dokapon Kingdom Fandom wiki.
How you Win & Turn Order
Victory Conditions:
- In Normal Mode, the primary objective is to amass the highest Net Worth by the conclusion of the designated number of weeks of gameplay.
- In Story Mode, the key to success is accumulating the greatest amount of CASH (G) when the game reaches its conclusion.
- For other game modes, specific victory conditions will be outlined at the outset of the game.
Turn Order and Time Progression:
- Turn Sequence: Each player takes their turn, and once all players have completed their actions, a day in the game world passes.
- Week Structure: Game weeks consist of seven days. Notably, stores remain closed on Sundays, affecting gameplay. Additionally, the gold value of certain items may be influenced by the number of weeks that have transpired.
- Weekly Events: The start of a new week may trigger various weekly events, adding an element of unpredictability to the game.
Towns, Castles, and Net Worth
Towns:
Towns serve as the central hub of Dokapon’s gameplay dynamics. When you defeat the occupying boss of a town, you become its rightful owner. As an owner, the town generates daily taxes, which can be collected at bank and collection spaces, denoted by the distinctive blue spaces marked with a prominent ‘G’.
Owners of towns have the opportunity to invest in them, elevating both the daily tax income and overall net worth of the town. Investments can be made directly from the town or via bank spaces.
In addition to their economic significance, towns provide a place of respite where you can replenish your health by resting. This action not only restores your vitality but also contributes money to the town’s owner. Additionally, towns enable players to attempt to pilfer the mayor.
As a town’s rank increases through investments, it begins to yield Local Items, highly sought-after assets due to their considerable value.
Castles:
Castles, distinct from regular towns, possess unique attributes. They are awarded by the king in Story Mode for completing favors, distributed randomly in Normal Mode, and earned through boss battles in Battle Royale.
Castles can only be invested in locally and lack the option of investments at banks. Their value and taxes are influenced not only by your investments but also by the liberated towns situated within their continent.
Castles have the special ability to generate gems, a special variety of Local Item. The worth of these gems escalates as you continue to invest in the castle.
Net Worth:
Net Worth represents the aggregate value of your possessions. While your current cash and inventory contribute somewhat to your Net Worth, these elements typically hold minor significance in most games.
Towns and castles form the predominant components of your Net Worth. Both their values can be increased through investments. Castles, as detailed in the Castles section, have additional factors that affect their worth.
Local Items produced by towns can be presented as gifts to the king, effectively banking them as Net Worth. It’s important to note that the Net Worth of these items greatly surpasses their selling price. However, exercise caution, as the king has preferences and dislikes certain items.
Spaces
Battles
Battles within Dokapon adhere to a straightforward formula:
- Attack: This is a fundamental offensive maneuver.
- Strike: A high-risk, high-reward attack with substantial damage potential, often capable of eliminating an opponent in a single blow. However, it is vulnerable to being countered.
- Defense: This move provides protection against physical attacks such as Attack and Strike.
- Counter: Counter allows you to retaliate if your opponent employs Strike, but if they use a different attack, you will sustain full damage.
- Magic Defense: Initially characterized as M. Guard, this ability shields you from offensive magic employed by your adversary. However, it offers no protection against non-magic attacks.
Death
In the unfortunate event of your character’s demise, there are several potential outcomes, which are determined at random:
- Cherubs: If Cherubs appear, you’ll be compelled to bide your time for one turn and suffer a negative consequence. This may involve losing an item or forfeiting a quarter of your total funds.
- Black-Haired Angels: The appearance of black-haired angels signifies a longer waiting period of two turns, accompanied by a more severe penalty. You might lose half of your monetary holdings, a selection of items, or even fall victim to a prank.
- The Grim Reaper: When confronted by the Grim Reaper, you must endure a three-turn hiatus from action and face the most dire consequences. This could encompass losing all of your money, all your items, a piece of your equipment, or even ownership of a town.
Character Stats
In Dokapon, character stats play a crucial role in determining your effectiveness in various aspects of the game. Here’s a breakdown of the primary stats:
- AT (Attack): This stat directly influences the damage output of your weapon during battles. A higher Attack stat results in more potent attacks.
- DF (Defense): Defense mitigates the damage you receive from enemy weapon attacks. A higher Defense stat translates to reduced damage taken.
- MG (Magic): Magic serves a dual purpose as both an offensive and defensive tool in battles and field encounters. Your Magic stat contributes to both your offensive and defensive magical capabilities.
- SP (Speed): Speed impacts your accuracy with attacks and magic, as well as your ability to evade enemy attacks. The difference between your Speed stat and the opponent’s plays a crucial role in determining outcomes, making it a pivotal stat. Speed also exhibits more unpredictable effects in field magic.
- HP (Hit Points): Hit Points represent your health pool, signifying the amount of damage you can endure before succumbing to defeat.
Magic
Magic within Dokapon assumes three distinct forms:
- Offensive Magic: These are spells used for attack purposes during battles. The options available on the Triangle/Y button in battles fall under this category and are equipped akin to weapons.
- Defensive Magic: Defensive magic also finds its place in battles, functioning as protective spells. Like offensive magic, these spells are equipped similarly to weapons.
- Field Magic: Field magic takes the form of consumable items employed directly on the game board. Similar to other forms of magic, your Magic (MG) and Speed (SP) stats influence the effectiveness of field magic.
Magic can introduce a variety of status ailments, adding a strategic layer to the game. The specific details and effects of these ailments are elucidated in Dokapon’s official manual.
Jobs
In the realm of Dokapon, jobs take the form of character classes, each bestowing unique attributes and advantages. As you progress in your chosen job, you’ll gain distinct stat improvements, wield specific weapon affinities, access battle abilities for both squares and the X button, and acquire a distinctive field ability. Additionally, each job comes with its own inventory limit for items and field magic.
Achieving mastery in a job, denoted by reaching its highest level, offers a lasting benefit of one stat point per level-up for the remainder of the game. Therefore, it’s advantageous to switch jobs after mastering them.
Here are the core elements of jobs in Dokapon:
- Job Levels: Job levels advance every six battles fought, distinct from your character level, which rises with XP gained. Don’t hesitate to engage weaker monsters to expedite job leveling.
- Salary: Each job awards a weekly salary that escalates with your job level. Furthermore, there’s an opportunity to earn a 3x bonus pay by accomplishing your job’s designated bonus objective.
- Starting Stats: When you transition between jobs, your character’s starting stats are subject to change, either increasing or decreasing. However, the other stats gained through leveling remain consistent.
- Representation: Character level is denoted as “Lv. X,” while Job level is depicted as “Level X.”
Dokapon’s diverse job system adds layers of strategy and versatility to the game, allowing you to tailor your character’s progression to your preferred playstyle.
