If you’ve decided to delve into the thrilling world of Body of Evidence, welcome aboard! To ensure smooth navigation and accommodate Steam’s word count constraints for guide sections, I’ve organized the levels into story levels (unlocking further stages) and optional levels (relevant only for achievements).
General Tips
- Bloodstains are left whenever a body comes into contact with a surface, with few exceptions like bodies in the pickup zone or specific levels with dried corpses. It’s a good practice to retrace your steps during cleanup, as you might accidentally overlook a floor or door.
- To achieve 100% completion of a level, you must place all bodies in their designated locations, clean up all bloodstains, tidy up furniture, collect all weapons and bullet casings, clear up messes, and repair any bullet holes or slashes on the walls. However, please note that not all levels have the same messes to deal with.
- Most levels are time-constrained. Generally, the most time-consuming aspect is exploring the level to locate the messes. If you fail a level, the easiest approach is to give it another shot on a second attempt.
- With the exception of the tutorial, each level contains a collectible item, totaling 25 collectibles (though you might have noticed the Steam page falsely claims 30 levels). These items are usually distinguishable by their distinct colors, and you can only collect them once per playthrough. They will be secured once you successfully complete and pass the level.
- In some instances, a glitch may cause your inventory to spontaneously empty. If this occurs, you can resolve it by replaying the levels where you initially acquired the brush, broom, and plaster knife.
Lastly, for some players, achieving the coveted achievement for passing all levels with 100% completion, particularly in the Reconstruction and Videotapes levels, might prove challenging. If you encounter such issues, don’t fret—take a break and try again after your work week is over. Persistence often leads to success!
Story Levels
The Phone Tutorial:
Please transfer the body from the tub to the designated green zone located at the front door. Subsequently, proceed to clean the bloodstains. No collectible items are to be gathered in this process.
The Lab:
Carefully lift the body and place it head-first into the white barrel near the broom. Obtain the nearby acid bottle to fill the barrel, thereby facilitating the melting of the corpse. Utilize the broom to sweep up the debris present at the entrance and the glass shards around the main mess area. Perform the cleaning of bloodstains, paying particular attention to the challenging stain on the table legs and various pieces of furniture. The collectible, Banach’s Textbook, can be found at the corner of the lab table near the stairs.
Trouble at Work:
Acquire the plaster knife from the bar. Tidy up the two bodies in the main room and address the bloodstains, loose furniture, and trash piles. Proceed to patch up the holes near the dart board and piano using plaster. Retrieve the gun placed on the bar and collect the bullet casings located behind the bar. Cleanse the blood trail leading up to the kitchen freezer, where the third corpse is situated. The collectible, the Ash Tray, can be located in the men’s bathroom toilet room.
Soap Club:
Access the cabinet beneath the blood letters on the wall to retrieve soap, which enables you to clean dark stains effectively by pressing ‘G’. Transport one body to the assigned green zone jar and proceed to cleanse the bloodstains, assorted trash piles, and disorganized furniture. The trickier blood stains may be found on the gym mats and the bottom of the boxing ring. The collectible, the Mittens of Shame, can be found behind the couch where the man is seated.
A Duel of Gentlemen:
Unlock the second-floor apartment and attend to the two bodies in the living room, ensuring they are taken to the hallway trash chute or placed within the green area. Collect the two guns, one from the floor and the other from the coffee table, and address the bullet casings while also patching up any holes. Thoroughly clean the bathroom area. The collectible, the Trick Card, awaits on the living room table.
Alone in the Dark:
Caution is essential in this level, as any oversight in cleaning will result in instant failure. Ensure that all small items around the table are picked up, and all stains, particularly those requiring soap treatment, are eradicated from the bed. There is one body in the bedroom that must be taken to the exit point. The collectible, The Grasshopper Lies Heavy, can be found on the bathroom sink.
Welcome Sherlock:
Scattered throughout this level are three concealed body parts and a sword. Begin by ascending to the TV stand in the living room to inspect the top of the high cabinet where the head is hidden. Proceed to click on the bottom of the couch, which will reveal the foot. Moving to the kitchen, draw back the right side curtain to uncover a katana resting on the window ledge. Revert back to the living room and proceed to the bedroom. Remove the two pillows from the chair to uncover the hand. Lastly, within the bathroom, you will find the collectible, referred to as the “Cleaning Agent,” concealed inside the shower.
Go Hard or Go Home:
Ahead lies a chaotic scene, just beneath the light source. Begin by restoring the weight rack to its original position, followed by reracking all barbells and dumbbells. Proceed to clean up any blood in the vicinity. Next, transport the body and place it in the van located outside. The task of maneuvering the large body through the door may require some ingenuity. Lastly, locate the collectible, the “Protein Shake,” positioned on a treadmill in the cardio area, adjacent to a television.
Crazy Ex:
Venture into the left apartment through the white door, where a disarrayed scene awaits. Transfer the two bodies to the hallway and position them inside the laundry cart. Attend to the bathroom, ensuring it is free from any mess. The kitchen primarily requires tidying, except for the bloodstains near the deceased cat. The bedroom demands attention, with several stains that necessitate soap, furniture arrangement, and additional clean-up across the room, including small stains on the desk. The living room also features numerous deep stains on the chairs and couch, along with additional furniture to be relocated. The murder weapon, a knife, can be found beneath the couch. Careful inspection is essential, as stains on the bookshelf and three on the standing fan should not be overlooked. Finally, the collectible, “Morgan the Cat,” is situated in the kitchen, near two bloodstains on the floor.
The Agency:
Following two inquiries posed to the agents inside the elevator, you will be administered heroin, leading to a surreal experience. Direct your attention to Elvis and inquire about the locked door, followed by questioning him about the key. Engage in discussions with the six other individuals present in the prison, as they will reveal song lyrics. Return to Elvis and respond with “Suspicious Minds,” leading him to grant you access to the interrogation room. Once inside, initiate the cleaning process, ensuring the cabinet is arranged correctly and all bloodstains, including the one in the sink, are removed. Failure to address any overlooked mess will result in level failure. The collectible, the “FBI Badge,” is positioned directly ahead from the elevator, lying on the floor near the door.
The Lake House:
Commence the search for the first body located in the yard, near the trees. Continue to the first-floor bathroom to find the second body. Access to the front door is restricted, but the glass side door is unlocked. Focus on cleansing the bloodstains present at the entrance and in the living room, paying particular attention to recovering the remote and small vase from the floor. Proceed upstairs to the large bedroom and address the crooked nightstand and lamp. Follow the trail of bloodstains to the smaller bedroom, which necessitates cleaning several wall stains, as well as fixing a katana and a slash mark using a plaster knife. Finally, the collectible, the “Golden Bait,” can be located on the boat, on the lowest level, accessible via stairs from the living room.
Revenge:
Ensure the bathroom is pristine, and utilize the provided soap to address challenging stains. The kitchen counter holds the weapon, a knife. The collectible, the “Movie Poster,” can be obtained from the bedroom wall.
A Cabin in the Forest:
Attend to the blood and eyeball on the table within the first room. Proceed to the bedroom, tilting down the wardrobe, and enter the room housing two deceased women. At this point, Ted will confront you at gunpoint. Concur to assist him, and he will teleport you to a grave situated outside. Transport the two corpses to the grave. The collectible, a “Stickman Figure,” is hidden behind a locked door inside the bathroom sink.
Reconstruction:
Ascend to the first room and arrange the three movable boxes in a stack to access the concrete ledge. Proceed by crouching through the pipe. Leap over the concrete pillars and backhoe to reach the final ledge. Then, position the body in the orifice adjacent to the concrete mixer and interact with the valve. Subsequently, you will encounter two armed individuals who will forcefully transport you to a location known as One Way Trip. The sought-after item, the Construction Helmet, can be found in the second room alongside a challenging jumping puzzle. Upon crawling through the pipe, direct your gaze left and downward to spot the helmet atop a pallet of bags.
One-Way Trip:
Progress ahead, pass through the door, and open the last compartment. Inspect the body, and an unexpected encounter will render you unconscious, leading you to The Maze. The collectible, the Daily Newspaper, can be found on a couch inside the first of the three enclosed cabs in the second hallway.
The Maze:
Pursue the figure or follow the illuminated pipes to reach a ladder. Failing to complete the timer will not impede your progress to the subsequent level. The collectible, the Tosheroon, is placed within a box at a dead end. To navigate the maze, follow the sequence: start, left, right, left, right, until you arrive at the intersection before the exit. Continue straight, following the linear path through its curves, until you reach another dead end housing the collectible box. For reference, the attached map illustrates the layout, with the heart symbol representing the starting point, the red lines indicating dead ends, the yellow arrows denoting lit-up paths, the green star representing the exit, and the brown star signifying the location of the collectible.
The Last Resort:
Discover Ranarch’s lifeless remains within his residence, followed by responding to the telephone. The sought-after item, the Astronaut Figurine, can be found beneath the mattress in the bedroom.
Videotapes:
Proceed to the bedroom to trigger the appearance of an individual in the living room. Engage in conversation with this person and specifically instruct him to “Kindly depart at once,” as any alternative response may result in fatal consequences. Dispose of the bodies from the bed, bathtub, and shower by tossing them out through the broken window. Once impeccably cleansed, the concluding decision awaits. One may either leap out of the window for the standard ending, or if all previous levels have been completed with a perfect score, retrieve the parachute from the bedroom cabinet and then proceed to jump out of the window. The sought-after item, the Holy Gun, can be located atop the bookshelf in the living room.
Optional Levels
The Last Samurai:
Proceed to the kitchen and gather four limbs from various locations, including three by the disarranged tables and one from the moving sushi conveyor belt, bearing a bloodstain. Place these limbs in the blender and drain the blood into the kitchen bathroom toilet. Clean up the bloodstains, and arrange the tables neatly, ensuring all four chairs and place mats are in order. The collectible, known as the Decorated Cleaver, can be found next to the blender in the kitchen.
The Headhunter:
Our task involves locating a weapon and three decapitated heads in the washers. The weapon can be found in the locked back room. Be cautious of the blind owner, who will eject you after inspecting five washing machines. To avoid detection, place a bucket on his head to deafen him. Use luminol to identify the correct washers: the second on the upper row, the fourth on the lower row, and the seventh on the upper row, starting from the left side. The collectible, the Baseball Bat, is situated on the table to the right of the owner.
Extracurricular Activity:
Your mission is to find ten bodies and ten bats. Most bats are located near significant bloodstains and in plain sight, but some are hidden in tricky spots. For instance, one bat is beneath the pommel horse in front of the entrance, another is behind a ball rack near the Curling stone, one is concealed behind the bowling pins, and another is in a goal by the pins, obscured by a gym mat. The collectible, the Curling Stone, is located beside one of the bats, next to a goal and a rack of balls.
The Hotel Job:
This level involves cleaning up blood in the hallway and elevator. Enter the hotel room with the bloody door to address the main mess. There is a significant amount of furniture to tidy up, including the nightstand, bed, remote, and bottle on the floor. A bar of soap is available in the clean bathroom. Take the horse head from the bed to the designated collection area in the hallway. The collectible, the Jazz Mag, can be found on the toilet in the en-suite bathroom of the hotel room.
Headless Rider:
Proceed to the backyard and retrieve the hose located on the side of the garage. Open the car trunk and place the headless body inside, ensuring to close the trunk afterward. Use the hose to clean all the blood off the car, except for a stubborn stain on the back seat. Next, enter the house and go to the bedroom to grab the blankets from the cabinet. Use these blankets to cover up the bloodstain in the car. Engage in a conversation with the man in the red robe, and upon completion, inform him that there is one more task to be done. Finally, hose off the two men. To complete the level, talk to the man in the red robe again, state that you’re done, and provide him with the routing number. The collectible, Nancy’s Thermometer, can be found on the washing machine in the main room, near the bedroom door.
Blasphemous Basement:
Descend the stairs to reach an intersection. First, turn left and then right to find a dead end with several bones and a letter. Clean up this area before returning to the intersection and proceeding straight, all the way back, and then turning right. In the large room ahead, clean up the bones and locate the Scroll of the Elders collectible. Return to the first intersection and enter the right room, where you’ll find an altar and a frightening stone head. Avoid cleaning the blood stain in the stone head’s mouth as it cannot be removed. Instead, pick up the body from behind and take it to the designated green zone. The collectible, The Scroll of the Elders, is situated in the room at the right dead end of the straight path with all the bones. It should be on the floor next to the three bones.
Prunus Serrulata:
This level involves finding seven invisible bodies, which can be challenging to detect. The first body is located on the bar amidst bloodstains and piles. Then, go behind the bar and activate the switch to raise the dance floor, revealing another body right in front of the green zone with a blood stain. One body is situated on the side tables, creating a very messy area with piles, slash marks on the wall, and deep soap blood stains on several chairs and tables. When facing the cherry tree, the right staircase has slash marks on the gate, the upper-level barrier, and the second-floor wall ahead. The left staircase has one body and bloodstains. On the second level, the left side has one body and bloodstains. The right level holds the last body and two slash marks on the wall with blood. The collectible, the Nurse’s Eyepatch, is located on one of the dining tables, specifically the third one out of four.
Retired Hitman:
This level is the messiest and most complex. One body is situated to the right of the garage in the garden, surrounded by a bunch of used shells. Two bodies are in the garage, and three more are in the living room, with numerous casings, bullet holes, bloodstains, two guns, and a knocked-over vase. Another corpse, a knife, and slash marks are present around the corner in a wardrobe to the left of the kitchen. The kitchen contains two bodies and two guns, along with bullet holes and fallen dishes that need to be cleaned up. Additionally, another body and some bullet holes can be found on the stairs leading to the basement, and one more body with a gun is located on the stairs leading to the bedroom. The last body is positioned on the bedroom railing. Finally, the ground-floor bathroom (by the front door) has blood in the shower. Be thorough in searching for shell casings and bullet holes near each body. If executed flawlessly, you’ll achieve the Every Piece achievement. The collectible, the Golden Coin, is placed on the small TV stand next to one of the corpses and a gun in the living room.
