This guide will show you how to unlock and get all Away: Survival Series achievements. As of writing, the game features a total of 21 achievements on Steam. Playing through the game’s story typically takes around 3-4 hours, depending on how much you venture off the main path to explore. The storyline itself follows a fairly straightforward path. Once you complete the story, you unlock the ability to see all collectible locations on the map, making it easier to mop up achievements such as gathering all collectibles and upgrading your skills, which also takes a similar amount of time as the story. Additionally, replaying the story on easy difficulty for achievement purposes is quicker than the initial playthrough, although difficulty achievements do not stack.
The game has its quirks and is prone to bugs, including both insects and glitches. In comparison to the smooth parkour controls of Assassin’s Creed, the movement mechanics may feel a bit clunky, especially when navigating through trees extensively. However, it’s not all negative; the game boasts occasional moments of beauty, and the main character is quite endearing. The experience of playing as an animal adds a refreshing twist to the gameplay.
There are two gameplay modes available: Story Mode and Exploration Mode. While the preference is for Story Mode, there are two achievements that can only be obtained in Exploration Mode. In Story Mode, players take on the role of a sugar glider, while in Exploration Mode, they control a pollen, which might sound unusual but adds to the game’s unique charm.
It’s worth noting a trigger warning for players: there are two scenes involving the need to escape or avoid large spiders, and encounters with small spiders are frequent throughout the game.
First Story Playthrough
Progress in the story, simply follow the glowing mushrooms. The storyline is quite linear and should take about 3-4 hours to complete. Keep in mind there are a few ‘boss’ battles where dodging is crucial, which might extend the playtime if you struggle with them. However, the quick time event cutscenes are forgiving.
During your playthrough, there are several objectives to keep in mind:
- Consume 100 raspberries, identifiable as the only red berries on the ground.
- Eat plenty of red mushrooms to replenish your red stamina meter.
- Look out for yellow mushrooms, resembling yellow sticks, to refresh your yellow gliding meter. They may not appear early in the game.
- Eliminate numerous spiders and consume 10 of them.
- Hunt and defeat 10 lizards.
- Listen for a faint beeping noise indicating the presence of a collectible hologram. While it’s easier to find them after completing the story, you can locate them during gameplay as well. These holograms are usually near or within human-made structures. During my playthrough, I found 6 holograms without actively searching for them.
Track your progress, access the map menu and navigate to the progression tab. Here, you can view the requirements for unlocking skills in the red and yellow skill trees. Aim to unlock all red and yellow skills during the story, except for the yellow Dragonfly skill, which will be unlocked post-story. Blue skills are also available after completing the story.
By following these guidelines, you’ll not only progress through the story but also accomplish various achievements along the way. Enjoy your adventure!

Mopping Up After Story
After the end credits roll, you’re free to explore the world. Now, blueberries and blue mushrooms will spawn alongside other berries and mushrooms. Whenever you spot something blue, eat it, even if you haven’t unlocked the possession skill yet. Keep track of your progress by checking the progression tab to see how many blue items you still need to consume.
Now, let’s focus on completing side quests, gathering collectibles, and mastering skills. Begin by tackling the side quests while collecting nearby items. Look for blue flower patches, as they often hide nests that serve as fast travel points. Zoom in on your map and head to the west side labeled ‘Dragonfly Race’.
In the Dragonfly Race, repetition is key. Completing it once marks the side quest as finished, but there’s an achievement tied to performing barrel rolls. To execute a barrel roll, aim for a tree while gliding, and just before reaching it, press the dodge button. You’ll need to perform 20 barrel rolls, which are essentially glide dodges with a specific animation. Keep at it until you’ve achieved all the stunts required for the achievement.

To complete the glide dodges near trees, try to perform a total of 20 dodges right before you’re about to hit a tree.
Now, onto the Spirit Hunt side quest:
Spirit Hunt: For this quest, simply focus on hunting down the purple lizard without any elaborate maneuvers. Once that’s done, head over to the Bunker.
Bunker: In the bunker area, your main objective is to learn the possession skill. Ignore the text about the three blue mushroom quest and instead, start by climbing the first tree adorned with glowing mushrooms. From there, leap to the island with the container and ascend the adjacent tree. Follow the pulsating blue light until you reach a bunker surrounded by blue mushrooms. Consume three of these mushrooms, then possess the cockroach nearby. Use the cockroach to gain entry into the bunker and retrieve the hologram. Afterward, proceed to the Second Bunker.
Second Bunker: Ascend until you reach the blue power lines, then climb up to the windmill. Scare away the vulture by hitting the branch a few times. Avoid walking on the power lines; instead, glide towards the water and ascend the tree. From there, glide to the next ridge where you’ll find the second bunker.

Now, focus on gathering all the collectibles. Remember, they’re typically located on or within human-made structures. If the map markers seem slightly off, head towards buildings instead of relying solely on the coordinates.

If you’re still missing some skills, it’s time to acquire them. Traverse Sanctuary Beach and keep an eye out for blue berries or mushrooms. Trust your intuition to spot them along the way.

Note that while playing through the story, you’ll unlock skills from the Red and Yellow trees. The Blue tree skills become accessible after completing the main storyline.
Exploration Mode
To earn the achievements, focus on completing three tasks: the Snail Run, and locating Rare Possessions. Let’s delve into each one.
First off, let’s tackle the Snail Run achievement. Head over to Sanctuary Beach and keep your eyes peeled for a snail. Once you spot one, possess it and pick a direction to move. Stay put until the achievement pops up. It’s a leisurely activity, so feel free to multitask—I even caught up on some YouTube while doing it.
Slow Achiever
Crawl 10 meters as a snail.
Now, onto the Rare Possessions. While some animals have set spawn points, keep an eye out for rare critters popping up in unexpected places. Start your search from the East and work your way West. If you don’t spot the animal initially, it might have met its demise. Give it some space, then circle back—it should respawn. Beware, though; pesky spiders sometimes get to the rare spawns before you can possess them. Trust your instincts to spot those elusive small creatures.
