This guide demonstrates how to maneuver your truck to any location on the American Truck Simulator map.

Overview

This tutorial proves particularly handy for accomplishing tasks like capturing photos or discovering viewpoints. It’s also valuable for navigating specific areas of the map. While this method may seem a bit puzzling initially, with a bit of practice, it becomes more intuitive and straightforward to apply.

How to Teleport

To begin, navigate to the “Documents” directory, and then access the “American Truck Simulator” folder.

Next, locate and open the file labeled “config.cfg.” You can do this by using either NotePad or WordPad.

Now, within the file, find the lines that read “uset g_developer” and “uset g_console,” both currently set to “0.” Change their values to “1.” After making these changes, save the file and then close it.

Line – uset g_console “0” to “1”

To activate the Free Camera Mode while in the game with your truck on the road, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure your truck is on the road in the game.
  2. On your keyboard, press the number “0” key located above the letter keys.

This action will switch the view to a perspective from underneath your truck, enabling you to use the Free Camera Mode.

You can now control the camera in Free Camera Mode:

  • Mouse: Move the mouse to adjust the camera’s direction.
  • Mouse Wheel: Use the mouse wheel to increase or decrease the camera’s speed.
  • Number Pad Keys: On the right side of your keyboard, use the “8” key to move forward and “5” to move backward.

Many find it convenient to use the “8” key for forward movement and adjust the direction with the mouse for precise navigation.

To set your new truck position and return to your truck:

  1. First, move the camera to your desired location, bringing it closer to the road as needed.
  2. Press the “Ctrl” key and “F9” simultaneously. This action will complete the teleportation, positioning your truck at the chosen spot.
  3. Finally, press the appropriate button for either your indoor or outdoor camera, and you’re ready to continue your journey.

This process allows you to effectively relocate your truck in the game.

To enable the Automatic City Teleportation mode in the game:

  1. Press the “” key located next to the “1” key above the letters on your keyboard.
  2. This action will open a Command Box.
  3. In the Command Box, type the name of the destination you want to go to. For example, if you want to go to Las Vegas, you can simply type “goto vegas.”
  4. Press the “Enter” key.

The game will then automatically teleport you to the specified location. Note that you don’t need to type the entire city name if it’s unique; a partial name is often sufficient for the game to recognize the destination.

Tips and Suggestions

Here are some useful tips and suggestions for using the teleportation method in American Truck Simulator:

  • Avoid Night Teleports: It’s a good practice to avoid using teleportation at night until you’re fully familiar with the game’s mechanics.
  • Use the Navigation Map: Utilize the in-game navigation map to plan your routes and prevent getting lost. It’s a valuable tool for efficient trucking.
  • Camera for Orientation: If you do get lost or disoriented for any reason, use your indoor or outdoor camera views to help you regain your bearings.
  • External Contracts Limitation: Keep in mind that this teleportation method cannot be used when you have an active external contract from the World of Trucks. You’ll need to complete or cancel the contract first.
  • Quick Travel Limitations: While there is a Quick Travel option in the game, it only works for cities that have already been discovered and have a maintenance station. Additionally, if your truck is slightly damaged or low on fuel, you cannot use Quick Travel, making the manual teleportation method a handy alternative.

These tips should help you navigate and teleport effectively in American Truck Simulator, enhancing your gaming experience.
