This guide will show you the basics of hunting and tracking in WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition.

Hunting and Tracking Guide

Hunting can be tricky for beginners. Many people get confused, but don’t worry; it’s not too complicated. To start, you just have to look for elk scent, which is pink.

Right now, I’m catching the scent of the Raspberry Herd. After that, you follow it, and it will take you to the tracks.

3 hours ago! I’ve got to hurry! When the tracks are stale (2 hours or more), they become fainter. You follow them the other way from the two dots at the end. I learned that the hard way, oops. This applies to all ungulates, which are double-hooved mammals like moose and elk.

Moose scent is a very light blue, bear scent is diamond-shaped and royal blue, snowshoe hare scent is beige, wolf scent is yellow and diamond-shaped, stranger wolf scent is a triangle yellow, pronghorn scent is deep purple, mule deer scent is a pale blue-purple, cougar scent is diamond and forest green, coyote scent is diamond and dark green, and bison have orange. All the predators have diamond-shaped scent, and the prey have a circle.

I found them! Catching elk should be quite manageable, depending on your abilities. You should target the ones that have their heads pulled back. Healthy elk will occasionally pull their heads back but then correct themselves. Weak elk won’t correct themselves and may have very low health.

For instance, I came across a calf that had only 16 health. I believe slipping can also cause damage. If you’re new to WolfQuest, I recommend going after a calf or cow rather than hunting spikes or bulls.

Simply keep biting the elk until it falls down. Remember, you’ll need to hunt two elk to finish the Learn to Hunt quest.
