Basic instructions and tips for getting started with Virtual Hunter.

Getting Started

Hi all, this is a very basic guide to get you in and hunting without too much detail.

The first thing is to start the game and you will see the menu with a few options.

If this isn’t your first VR game, I’d recommend doing the settings before jumping in.

Either way, I would recommend completing the tutorial as it covers most of this guide.

When you are ready to start, select Play and then start a new save.

Shown the option to go to the lodge select that before hunting otherwise you will not have a rifle.

Getting the Lee and Going Out

Step 1 is to enter the lodge.

You will see a map on the wall when you enter the first room on the right.

This will allow you to travel to the reserve or where the animals are.

Explore the lodge and you will find the shop on the right side of the lodge.

You can take the brown rifle, the scope on the left and the box of .303 bullets for free.

The scope is attached to the top rail.

Shooting Range and How to Shoot

When you leave the lodge and follow the path to the left, you will find a shooting range.

This allows you to load and fire your weapon without using any bullets.

It has 2 target modes and will display the x-ray view of the deer target to help with critical shots.

To load the rifle, turn the rear bolt up and pull it all the way back.

On the right side (right-handers) you will see the ammo. Pick it up with trigger and place it in the space where the bolt came from.

Then close the bolt forward and all the way back.

Trigger to fire while holding the rifle.

Ideally, you want to aim for the lungs of a deer, as this will bring it down very quickly compared to hitting it multiple times (2+) in other places.

Headshot and heart are also 1-Hit KOs, but are difficult to hit and often result in a flesh wound.

Out Hunting

To go hunting go back to the hut and in the first room on the right is a map.

Place your hand on the little house and then again when it says “travel” will load you into the reserve.

Once here, you can hunt and buy items from the shop inside.

Walk around and look for something to shoot, preferably deer, as the rifle you have is designed for that.

You can track animals by activating the tablet/phone on your arm.

Once you find an animal, aim for the vitals and pull the trigger.

Follow the animal with the tablet until you find the body (some animals may be alive but downed, kill them)

Claim the animal and you can see where you hit it and other details such as trophy score and money earned.

Congratulations you are now a Virtual Hunter. That’s it for now this should get you up and running if the tutorial broke like mine. buy better stuff. read the books in the hut to find out more.

Tips

  • You can sprint by pressing in on the left thumbstick, this is faster but most animals seem to only notice when you are well within shooting range.
  • Dears are often in packs, go for the male first as the pack can run quite far and you may only get a few before they escape.
  • The .303 ammo is free for up to 10 or 20 rounds (each time you use all of it), so do not feel the need to save it.
  • Try not to shoot birds/rabbits/foxes with the .303, it’s unethical.
  • The map is about a 30-minute power march across, so its pretty big if you wandering/chasing the game.
  • The first location of blood will show the area where you hit the animal. If it’s a meat shot or not high blood rate don’t expect to kill the animal. They need a few meat shots to go down (deer).
