Hello there, Recruit! This guide is here to help you discover ores in the universe, get them out of the ground, and figure out how to use them for your missions.

Introduction

As a member of the Argos Extractors mining team, your job is to locate and extract various resources, especially ores. This guide aims to show you how to utilize the different tools available to unearth these amazing treasures.

Extraction methods

During your training, you learned about three ways to extract resources, depending on what you need. Let’s delve into them in detail.

Cutter

On your first day, you received a Cutter, your trusty companion for this job. It can mine any ore chunk you come across. Simply aim at the ore you want and press and hold the trigger (left-click) to activate the laser. You’ll hear a sound when the laser hits the ore. Remember, you need to be close to the ore for the cutter to work.

Your cutter also has a secondary mode. Hold the button on the handle (right-click), and you’ll notice your cursor moving. When the three lines align with the center of the cursor, press the trigger (left-click) to fire a more powerful laser, mining ores much faster!

Always put on your safety goggles before handling any tool!

Hands

Yes, your hands are handy tools too! Some resources, like gaseous ones, require you to fill containers with them.

First, locate a vent like this:

Then, carefully approach the vent and press the Action button (E by default) to collect the resources.

Extractors

In uncharted regions, you can establish new outposts to mine ores efficiently. However, this method requires two things:

  1. A large vein in the ground
  2. Electricity

Here’s what a cobalt vein looks like:

Ensure you have all the necessary equipment to provide sufficient storage and energy for your outpost. Running out of power is not good for anyone!

Ores

Throughout the universe, you’ll discover various useful ores to help you construct new outposts.

Here’s a partial list of ores and their purposes:

  • Tungsten: Especially handy for copper extractors, helium generators, and gaseous storage.

  • Lead: Particularly useful for structures like hydroponics or habitations.

  • Uranium: Essential for building Robot Engineers.

Gaseous and liquid resources

Gaseous and liquid resources can be extracted relatively easily but come with risks. Here are a few, along with their uses:

  • Tetrafluorides:
