This guide will show you how to prevent and avoid your buildings from decaying in Soulmask.
How to Avoid Buildings From Decaying
In Soulmask, you gather various building materials like foundations, floors, and walls from crafting and using the construction table. These materials allow you to create your own base.
If you forget to place a bonfire near your base in Soulmask, your buildings and workstations will slowly decay over time.
To make a bonfire in Soulmask, follow these steps: First, press the “Tab” key and go to the “Items” tab. Find the bonfire in the “Manual Crafting Blueprint” section. To craft it, you’ll need materials like branches, stones or flint, and logs or hardwood. Branches are essential, while the other materials are optional. If you have enough of any one material, you can craft a bonfire.
To activate the bonfire in the game, simply add combustible materials like branches, logs, or bark to it. By placing your base within the bonfire’s range and keeping it lit, your buildings won’t decay. When you hover over the building materials, you’ll see “[Protected by Bonfire],” indicating they won’t decay as long as the bonfire burns.
As you progress, you can unlock the ability to tame NPCs called “barbarians” to continuously feed the bonfire, removing the need for you to do it manually.
Pro tip: It’s wise to build the bonfire before constructing your buildings to ensure your base isn’t too close to others, making it challenging to protect the bonfire. Also, cover the bonfire’s top with a roof or flooring to prevent rain from extinguishing it.
