Here’s a simple guide to help you figure out clues, draw pictures, and ultimately make the correct deductions to solve the case. Keep in mind that this guide doesn’t go through every step of the case in detail. Also, be aware that it contains spoilers related to solving the case. Initially, play the game the way you want, making moral decisions based on what feels right. If you get stuck or decide to replay the game for achievements, or if you’re unsure about your current decisions, refer to this guide.

Case Summary

Once you finish Chain Reaction, you’ll go straight into Case #5, Fever Dreams. In this case, you’ll learn that Katelyn is nowhere to be found.

Searching The Room

Go to Katelyn’s Room, which is on the left side of the fireplace in your apartment. Click on the small table next to her bed to create a Portrait. Here’s what you find in different places:

  • On the bed – Diary is taken.
  • In the dresser – Suitcase is taken.
  • Behind you, in the wardrobe – Dresses are missing.

Now, return to your main room, and suddenly, you’re in a graveyard. Run forward and to the left bend to find a crypt/building. Click on the door, and you’ll pull out an Axe. Click on the red circle to chop down the door, and you’ll enter Alice’s secret room from Case #3. Talk to Alice, asking her all the questions, and build a new Portrait:

  • Face – Angry
  • Hat – Mourning Clothes
  • Train Ticket in hand – Visited Highgate Station
  • White marks on dress waist – Used Chalk

Move around the room, and click on the fallen chair to notice the room has changed, and something was taken. Activate Imagination Mode and deactivate it in different spots to see where items used to be and where they are now. The following items are missing and should be clicked on in Imagination Mode:

  • William Hamilton’s Portrait
  • Candles near the chair
  • Grimoire (Book) on the stand by the chair
  • Table of Practice against the wall near the chair
  • Phonograph used in Case #3

With everything ready, enter Deduction Mode:

  • Portrait of Alice’s Father + Spiritual Seance Items = Seance with Father
  • Ticket to Highgate + Mourning Clothes = Cemetery Visit
  • Big Bubble appears = Family Crypt

Deduced, leave Alice’s Room to be taken to the Cemetery.

The Cemetery

You’ll find yourself in front of the Crypt door you previously chopped down. Investigate and search for clues until you’re allowed to enter the Old Cemetery. Proceed through the open gate to start exploring the Old Cemetery, focusing on finding four specific Crypts. The Cemetery forms a giant loop, preventing you from getting lost. Use Imagination Mode near the doors and click on the following Crypts:

  • William Fitz Clarence
  • Henry Anthony Evans
  • Archibald Irwin
  • William Shaw

After clicking on all four Crypts, you’ll notice they all lead to one crypt in the center, which is your destination. If you ever forget where to go, use Imagination Mode while running to guide you. Head inside the central crypt. Upon entering, you’ll discover that it belongs to Moriarty, Sherlock Holmes’ archenemy, and the true father of Katelyn.

Crypt Puzzle

Take a look at the wall on the left side of the Crypt, where you’ll find a constellation puzzle that needs solving. Go back to the altar and grab the Metal Star. Return to the puzzle and insert the Metal Star into the holes in a specific order to recreate the constellation shown in Moriarty’s Notes. You might need to use the Metal Star on the same holes multiple times. If you need a visual guide, you can refer to the picture below for reference:

Battle on The Boat

Proceed along the path towards the burning boat in the river. Walk onto the pier and click on the rowboat to board it and cross over to the burning boat. Once aboard, go left up the stairs, then immediately right through the door. Here, you’ll find Katelyn and Alice in the burning ship. Follow these instructions:

  • Katelyn begins to fall, click on the red circle to make her back away.
  • When speaking to Katelyn, choose the responses: “Cursed?!”, “To protect you!”, “No! You are not Alice!”
  • The door bursts open, and an anchor flies at you; click the red circle to dodge it.
  • A barrel rolls towards Katelyn; click the red circle on the right side of the screen to grab the knife and stop it.
  • When prompted with “It’s not your life!”, respond with “No! It’s my fault…”
  • A beam starts falling; press the button on the screen to dodge it.
  • Steam forces you across another beam; press the button on the screen to jump to safety.
  • Respond positively with “Yes, I can! I care about you!”
  • Address the issue of Moriarty with “He had to be eliminated!”
  • When asked about your childhood, respond with “And what about your childhood?”
  • Convince Katelyn with “No! Alice wants to kill you!”
  • Affirm your connection with “We’re family!”
  • Katelyn starts to fall again; click on the red circle to use the hook.
  • Finally, click on the red circle to grab Katelyn and save her.

After this intense encounter, both of you will escape with Watson, rowing away from the burning boat, marking the completion of the game.
