How to tame a monster

Taming your first monster isn’t too hard. First you will need to use the Order Symbol to build a Monster barn. Until you have a barn, no monsters can be caught.

This can be purchased within the first few days of the game so don’t worry about having to wait to long.

To tame a new best friend, you must first give it a present. You can do this the same way you do the villagers, by holding the gift and interacting with the monster.

When you gift a monster an item, a bubble will appear above its head. The bubble will either expand into a heart, meaning you’ve tamed it, or a skull and crossbones, which means your attempt failed.

Brushing a monster or hitting it with a love affinity weapon will also boost the chance that the taming will work.

You can brush a monster up to 15 times; but be careful because the monster will still attack you even with the free spa service >:(

Most monsties have a preferred type of present, but then again who doesn’t.

Common monsters can be tamed with any item regardless of preference, even a weed on the ground has a chance of getting that wolf on your side!

Boss monsters however, (Yes you can tame bosses) will only become tames with their very specific, and usually rare favourite items.

The higher the monster’s level relative to your character, the less likely it is to tame. And supposedly the opposite is also valid.

Once tamed monsters will automatically be added to your party and a quick chat with them can send them immediately back to the barn.
