This is a simple, repeated, not-so-exciting, and quite safe method to make a bunch of money while taking down a bunch of lawmen and bounty hunters.
Requirements
Before you begin, you require three things:
- A fence located in Emerald Ranch. Assist Seamus in taking the stagecoach from his cousin. The money gained from each kill is tiny. Your goal is the fancy items. Seamus is just up the road from where you’ll be working.
- Either a Lancaster or Lichtfield Repeater. Both firearms reload fast and help you keep your foes at a distance.
- A Springfield rifle or a superior one with a medium or long scope to snipe nearby targets along the trails if you want to get the attention of the law.
How to Do it
To start, go to the farm near Emerald Ranch with the run-down barn and small farmhouse. There’s wheat in one field and another crop in a nearby field. You’ll find cattle and a horse there. Grab your repeater and rifle, then only take down one farmer. The survivor will attract law enforcement.
Use only high-velocity ammo and wear the bandolier. It holds 300 repeater rounds, more than enough for what you need.
Inside the house, there’s a kitchen, a short hallway, and two bedrooms. One bed has a guitar on it. Set up your defense in the other bedroom with two doors. The one leading outside is locked. Before the law arrives, close the door to the other room and try to keep the defending room’s door closed as much as possible. This blocks anyone from shooting at you from the front lawn and slows down intruders to prevent them from overwhelming you.
Two waves of lawmen will show up first. Stay crouched near the bed by the small table. This helps you keep the door closed and avoid most gunfire from outside. Adjust your position if needed to stay hidden. After dealing with the second wave, loot the bodies and put them outside on the porch. Keeping the interior tidy makes looting bodies easy. Once the lawmen are gone, save the game and sleep on the bed with the guitar. In the morning, you might encounter the owners in the hallway or kitchen. Remind them why entering a house with a pile of corpses, especially lawmen or bounty hunters, is a bad idea. Just step outside, and the bounty hunters will arrive immediately. There’s a single wave of six men and possibly two dogs. The dogs quickly bring the men inside the house. If your bedroom door is closed, the dogs won’t attack you; they vanish after the intruders try to enter your room. Shoot, loot, save, sleep, step outside in the morning, and repeat the cycle.
At a certain point, you can only loot cash, filling your satchel. When this occurs, leave the house without dumping the bodies and get on your horse. Go to Emerald Ranch and sell your luxury items to Seamus, earning around $300 or more.
Clean your repeater and get more high-velocity ammo. When you come back to the farmhouse the next day, the new owners will have cleaned your base, thinking the worst is over.
