Play Road Rage on Normal
It might sound weird, but playing on Normal can actually help you level up faster in Payday 3. In this game, it’s not all about carrying a ton of bags on the hardest difficulty. It’s more about completing specific challenges. Plus, on Normal, you won’t constantly be getting knocked down, so you can focus on your goals.
You can choose any heist you like, but I recommend this one. It’s got fewer civilians, predictable cop spawns, and good rewards even on Normal difficulty.
Check the Combat Challenges Tab
In the game menu, go to “Challenges” and then “Combat.”
Look for challenges that are close to completion or ones you enjoy doing. Read the descriptions and choose your primary and secondary weapons accordingly.
Sometimes, you can work on multiple challenges at once with one weapon. For example, this gun can help you with three challenges simultaneously by getting headshots while aiming down the sights. Some challenges might require silenced weapons or hip-firing, so be sure to check the descriptions. And don’t forget about grenade challenges!

I suggest selecting armor-related skills and an armor bag to help you survive longer. Pick your toughest armor, and you’re good to go.
Bonus tips
These tips will also help you earn Infamy EXP:
- If you have an Ammo/Medic/Armor bag left at the end of the heist, use it before evacuating.
- During stealth missions, mark guards and cameras.
- Use your ECM jammer before finishing a heist, even during loud moments.
- Use hostages as shields, especially during the Road Rage van escort. It’ll reduce the damage you take and keep those nasty tear gas attacks at bay.
Other tips
- In stealth mode, place a Motion Sensor on a Lead Guard’s back. This will help you track his movements and avoid him. He’ll also mark other guards and civilians as he walks around.
- It seems that completing a challenge is enough to earn Infamy EXP, even if you fail the heist (pretty sure about this, but might want to confirm).
- Use melee attacks to quickly drop civilians to the ground.
