Crafting everything you need to survive in the Late Game of Beyond Contact

Invoering

Op dit punt, you should have a reliable base, that you can always return to if you’re ever in need of oxygen or food. A base of operations if you will. If you do not yet have a base with those things I can recommend looking at our Mid Game Survival guide.

Late Game Goals

Now our focus will be to progress the story and get everything we need to be able to complete it efficiently.

Our first goal should be to start building our Teleport Network. Daarna, we will focus on outposts and Story progression.

In this guide I will only cover the most significant upgrades and goals, I can recommend reading through your research panel and structures to see if there’s anything else you want to go for to increase your quality of life.

Better Energy

more power. There are several energy sources that you can consider. The power generating structures that I will now cover will require you to gather materials from time to time to keep them running. So choose your power structures based on which material is easiest for you to gather.

For sustainable power sources that do not require materials to run, check out the Sustainable Energy section of our Mid-Game Survival Guide which is linked at the beginning of this Late Game Guide.

Shock Sprite Generator

Power Source: Captured Shock Sprites
Source Use Time: 30 Minutes
Power Generated: 12

This is one of the easiest Generators to get the research and materials for. And it is sometimes worth skipping Solar and Wind Power to get. If you have been following our guides you should already have the research available in your research menu.

Materials Needed:

  • 1x Shock Sprite Gel
  • 2x Feron
  • 1x Electrical Wiring

Daarbovenop, you will need a net for each Shock Sprite that you will catch and add to power the Generator.

Geothermal Generator

Power Source: Satarad Burning Nectar
Source Use Time: 45 Minutes
Power Generated: 30

Geothermal power is one of the two best power sources in the game. It gives the most power generated but doesn’t come close to lasting as long as its counterpart the Void Reactor.

To Unlock the GeoThermal Generator Research Schematic you will need to upgrade your Scanner to Level 3, die vereist 3 components to craft. Note that Gravite can only be found in cold biomes, and requires a Power Pick to be mined.

Components required to craft level 3 Scanner:

  • 1x Phase Crystal
  • 4x Refined Gravite
  • 1x Circuit Board

Upgrading the scanner will unlock the Power Reactor research. Once this is researched you can craft the Geothermal Generator.

Materials required to craft Geothermal Generator:

  • 2x Piston
  • 3x Satarad Metalic Chittin
  • 5x Refined Feron

Void Reactor

Power Source: Void Crystal
Source Use Time: 5 Hours? (Needs further testing)
Power Generated: 20

To unlock Void Reactors you will need to progress with the Octomian Storyline. (Right side of the Objective tree)

If you have been following our guides, then at this point in the Octomian story you will have just closed your first Void Rift, and unlocked the opportunity to trade 10 Void Crystals for a Rift Repairer.

Van hier, to unlock the Void Reactor all you will have to do is talk with Cence and the Overseer in the Octomian base until Cence sends you on a mission to research more about Corruption and Void Crystals. Doing this will unlock 3 Research Schematics in your Research Panel. The one we’re interested in is called Void Power.

To start researching Void Power you will have to have researched Air and Solar energy, as well as the Shock Sprite Generator. Then gather 8 Void crystals and start the research to unlock the Research Schematic for Void Reactors.

To craft a Void reactor you will also need to have a Matter Printer.

Materials required to craft Matter Printer:

  • 2x Vyperlisk Tooth
  • 2x Bloom Crystal
  • 2x Circuit Board

To craft a Matter Printer you will need to upgrade your Scanner to Level 3, die vereist 3 componenten. Note that Gravite can only be found in cold biomes, and requires a Power Pick to be mined.

Materials required to craft level 3 Scanner:

  • 1x Phase Crystal
  • 4x Refined Gravite
  • 1x Circuit Board

Materials required to craft a Void Reactor:

  • 1x Bull Crog Horn
  • 1x Satarad Metalic Chittin
  • 4x Metal Sheeting

Creating a Transporter

Transporters are one of the most useful structures in the game. For each Transporter that you craft, you add a teleportation location to your Teleport Network. This speeds up how fast you can traverse the map. Daarbovenop, they only require 3 power to run. For more information on the Teleport Network check out our Teleport Network Guide.

If you have been following our tutorials you should be able to research Transporters already. But if you cannot, you can learn the research by researching Data Mining.

Materials required to craft a Transporter:

  • 2x Circuit Board
  • 3x Refined Feron
  • 1x Phase Core

Creating an Outpost

Outposts are small bases placed around the map that you can use as a safe zone, and when you connect them to your Teleport Network with a Transporter you can quickly travel to them when you need Materials or are looking to complete some objectives. When creating an outpost the location is everything, so you want to ask yourself why you want to teleport there, or what’s special about that place that makes you travel there frequently.

There are a few structures we can consider putting in our outposts, but the more structures we build in our outpost, the more power will be required to keep it running. With that said I can recommend choosing sustainable energy like Wind Turbines or Solar Power. In deze gids, we will be using Wind Turbines.

De 3 structures I would recommend for our Outposts are a Transporter, Oxygenator, and a Thermal Bulb. Building all 3 will use up to 7 power, and if you’re not building in strong winds this will require 4 Wind Turbines. In strong winds, you can power everything with just 2.

Transporter

Power Required: 3
Space Occupied: 5×5

This is the main structure we want running in all of our outposts, to expand our Teleport Network and make traveling around the map much faster.

Materials required to craft a Transporter:

  • 2x Circuit Board
  • 3x Refined Feron
  • 1x Phase Core

Oxygenator

Power Required: 2
Space Occupied: 2×1

Building an Oxygenator in your outpost is a great quality of life improvement to top off your oxygen after you’ve been out exploring.

Materials required to craft an Oxygenator:

  • 4x Refined Feron
  • 2x Filter
  • 2x Electrical Wiring

Thermal Bulb

Power Required: 2
Space Occupied: 2×1

Making your base into a safe space with a Thermal Bulb is another great Quality Of life improvement for your outposts, so that while in your outpost you no longer have to worry about the cold nights, and you can even build your outpost in a Cold Biome.

Materials required to craft a Thermal Bulb:

  • 6x Refined Feron
  • 2x Urchin Carapace
  • 2x Ember Crystal

Wind Turbine

Power Generated Based on Wind Strength:

  • Normaal: 2
  • Strong: 4
  • Storm: 6
  • Space Occupied: 4×4

Wind Turbines generate power based on where you build them. Normally they will generate 2 power each, but if you find a spot where there are strong winds they will generate 4 power each. You can identify strong winds by searching your map for windy areas.

Building within a Rift-created weather event like a Sandstorm or a Snowstorm will increase the power generated by Wind Turbines up to 6.

Materials required to craft a Wind Turbine:

  • 2x Refined Feron
  • 2x Refined Polykine
  • 2x Electrical Wiring

Summary

We have now successfully made it through the Late Game portion, as we have great power sources, and Transporters around the map to help us travel.

With our base complete, we are in perfect shape to try out new armor and weapons as we please. As well as focusing on finishing the story.
