This guide will tell you about the 4 different available “houses” you are able to choose from in Hogwarts Legacy. You may only join one, and this guide will help you decide which house is the right pick for you.

Precursor

Just as a small precursor, I would personally recommend choosing your house based on the aesthetics rather than the “house attributes”… which really don’t come into play. However with the aesthetics, which house you choose will affect your common room and your character’s clothes, so I would pick a house whose color you like.

The Aesthetics

Each house has a unique aesthetic, as shown below…

The 4 different house’s common rooms:

Also notice how your scarf changes color depending on which house you join.

Gryffindor is red, Ravenclaw is blue, Slytherin is green, and Hufflepuff is yellow.

Each house also has a unique emblem, so you may choose your house based on the emblem that you like the most, or a house’s color that you like the most.

The house’s emblems:

I personally prefer Ravenclaw’s name/color/emblem the most out of all 4.

Every Difference Between Houses

Here is a list of every single difference between all of the houses…

  • Unique common rooms
  • Color changes on clothes
  • NPCs will appear more often in their own common rooms
  • Some unique dialogue referencing your house
  • Hufflepuff has a unique minor sidequest that takes players to a small section in Azkaban

Gryffindor

Gryffindor represents bravery.

In the books/movies, Harry Potter was in Gryffindor. As were Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Fred & George Weasley, Ginny Weasley, Neville Longbottom, Hagrid, and Dumbledore.

Ravenclaw

Ravenclaw represents curiosity.

In the books/movies, Luna Lovegood was in Ravenclaw.

Slytherin

Slytherin represents ambition.

In the books/movies, Voldemort, Draco Malfoy and Severus Snape were all in Slytherin – which is why this house is typically seen as the most “villainous” house of Hogwarts.

Hufflepuff

Hufflepuff represents loyalty.

In the books/movies, Cedric Diggory was in Hufflepuff.

Analysis

So, as you can see, based on the characters from the Harry Potter series… Gryffindor is by far the most common house to be in. Most of the characters in the books/movies were in Gryffindor.

The second most popular house seems to be Slytherin, although they are known to be evil, unlike Gryffindor.

And lastly, Ravenclaw & Hufflepuff are tied as being the 3rd and 4th most popular houses, with only a few main characters from the books/movies belonging to them.

Personal Ranking

Ravenclaw – #1

Gryffindor – #2

Slytherin – #3

Hufflepuff – #4

My personal opinion is based on the house colors/emblems and attributes! Leave your own rankings down in the comments!
