Grotto 100% Achievement Guide

Took about 7 hours to 100% going in blind and reading all the flavor text from the re-useable objects. Listing in order in which achievements should be unlocked or the counters start ticking(since some rely on you interacting with items a handful of times).

Leave a comment if any of these aren’t quite right. Some may be unmissable, but there seemed to be a threat of missing some achievements if giving incorrect constellations. I only marked one as “known missable”, but I suspect many others are.

Unlock constellations. Can be done immediately. There’s a point in the game where the signs change, so I believe you’d be locked out of this achievement for that time.

Ey-Who-Gives-Kids-Away

Gave the “crab” constellation to the Teacher, which helped with Ey-Who-Makes-Good-Business

Ey-Who-Makes-Good-Business

The merchant wasn’t seemingly thrilled with my “lily” constellation, but was happy to have the child from “Ey-Who-Gives-Kids-Away”

Ey-Who-Plays-Major-Chords

Same as the bones, play the instrument 10 times.

Ey-Who-Respects-Eir-Elders

For the blurry-eyed hunter, gave “mole” constellation

Ey-Who-Likes-Em-Who-Does-Nothing
Ey-Who-Likes-Em-Who-Hunts

Mutually Exclusive. Side with the First Hunter or Good-For-Nothing more than the other in the leadership meeting. Fairly early in the game, you’ll know because both characters will be present but only one can be given a constellation at a time.. Either replay to that point or use the save game trick from Ey-Who-Made-Ouuch-Say-Ouuch by making a copy of the save game when both characters show up in the cave. When the kids show up again – specifically asking for a story – choose constellations in this order: frog, sword, ivy

Known missable. When the merchant returns maimed, give the “crying god” constellation

Ey-Who-Killed-A-Child

You’ll be presented with a choice between a couple of Brutes three times. For the third choice, choose the child

Mutually Exclusive. I used the save game trick for this one, but you may be able to achieve Ey-Who-Doomed-Us-All then reload. Use the save game trick mentioned in the last achievement to play it safe, making a copy of the save game when the miner with the pickaxe shows back up.

After getting the pickaxe, break the rock where you stand to obtain constellations. After the voice speaks to you, press ctrl to wrap back to the bed and sleep for b]Ey-Who-Doomed-Us-All[/b]. This prevents Ey-Who-Named-Us from being completed.

Or – after reverting to old save or if only going for one achievement – hit the five crystals twice a piece for Ey-Who-Stopped-Hearing-Voices

Ey-Who-Named-Us

This may be unmissable after choosing “flesh over rock”, but when asked about the breaches in the wall, I chose “horse”. May be important to give an appropriate constellation for the brutes to prevail. You’ll later be asked to name the tribe, choose any constellation

Ey-Who-Made-Ouuch-Say-Ouuch

This achievement takes a bit of patience to complete. You can replay the beginning of the game over and over again, but I suggest getting to the appropriate scene and making a copy of the save game to be reverted to.. 12 times. Get to the third scene where the chief is asking for a constellation to use for punishment.

If wanting to go the revert-save route, navigate to:
“C:\Users\*username*\AppData\LocalLow\Brainwash Gang\Grotto”
And save a copy of “progression.gs” somewhere else on your computer

Give a constellation to the chief(this is when the achievement counter ticks) and either start a new game or replace the “..\Grotto\progression.gs” with the one you saved off to the side and choose “continue” from the main menu.

Here’s the list of constellations I tried until the achievement popped, with the corresponding punishment – or body part to be punished – asterisk meaning it ticked the achievement counter:

Some other combo will likely work, but I suggest just choosing the signs with an asterisk since I confirmed they work.
