This guide is to help you with the very hard and confusing: Benevolent Leader Achievement. To get this achievement, players need to reach maximum happiness in a large settlement. Here’s how you can obtain it.

Choose a Settlement and People in it

Choose an empty settlement or one with at least 1 person, if you can’t find any with 1 or fewer people move the other people to a different settlement.

Set Up the Settlement

Set up a Tier 3 Bar, 2 or more turrets, a bed, and a water pump. You will need to have a Charisma of 6 and have fully maxed out the Local Leader perk to unlock shops. After all, this is done fill the workbench with food, preferably farming foods like corn, melons, or carrots, etc.

Assigning and Taking Care of the Settler’s Needs

Assign the person at the settlement to the Tier 3 Bar, and make sure to give him clean clothes like a clean suit or a vault suit. You don’t have to do this but make sure the turrets you put down are near the guy so in case your afk’ing or something else and he gets attacked, he can have some assistance. Make sure to constantly check on his food so he doesn’t run out and lose happiness.

Waiting and How it Might Take

This step is all about waiting, If the base was already at really low happiness then it will take a very long time for the happiness to reach max. It took me a few hours of constant waiting and doing quests just to get the achievement.

Additional Notes

Make sure to have a Tier 3 workbench, even if you’re doing everything exactly right with a Tier 1 the max happiness will only go to is 95%. I have not tested if a Tier 2 will get to 100%. There is sometimes a bug where the achievement won’t pop up even if the settlement is at 100% happiness.
