Startup Corrupted or Missing Scripts File Error Fix

If you ever tried to play Cyberpunk 2077 and saw this error:

“Cyberpunk 2077 encountered an error caused by a corrupted or missing scripts file and will now be forced to close.”

It’s because of some special add-ons called mods, like redscript and RED4ext, that change how the game works. There are other mods like ArchiveXL and TweakXL that can also cause this problem.

Here’s what you can do to fix it:

  1. Go to where you installed Cyberpunk 2077. It’s usually in a folder like this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077
  2. Delete these folders: Bin, Engine, r6, and RED4ext.
  3. Then, in your Steam library, right-click on Cyberpunk 2077, choose “Properties,” go to “Game Files,” and click on “Verify Integrity of Game Files.”
  4. If you had mods that used redscript or other script editing mods, turn off the mods in the game launcher after Steam finishes updating. Or you can turn off those mods in a program called Vortex before enabling mods again.

One thing to remember is that right now, these script mods might not work. But don’t worry, just wait for updates from the mod creators and then you can install them again.

That's everything we are sharing today for this Cyberpunk 2077 guide. This guide was originally created and written by Diavolo. In case we fail to update this guide, you can find the latest update by following this link.
