This guide will show you how to play the Ancient Beasts DLC in Chronicon. Note that this Chronicon guide may contain spoilers of the game, so continue reading at your own risk.

How To Start Expeditions

  • Go to the Strange Portal located on the Eastern side of Tinka’s Domain

  • Talk to professor Bramley and start his quest chain.
  • Next you have to do a Dungeon Anomaly on Mythic 3.
  • Now you can start doing Expeditions by talking to Bramley and selecting Expedition Tree

  • Now pick the starter node for one of the Expedition paths:

  • The Expeditions increase in difficulty as you progress, from Mythic III to Mythic XIII; if your character is capable of XV or Tiers, it will be a joke to complete them.
  • If progressing on a new character, I suggest rotating between all 4 paths before moving up difficulties. Otherwise, just smash out a single line entirely and max out a single beast first.

Expedition Passive Skills

  • As you progress through Expeditions, you will unlock passive skills.
  • The passive skills cost crystals to invest in them, and new Golden Crystals at certain breakpoints.

  • Golden Crystals come from completing Endless Dungeon Anomalies. Yes, that means you have to kill bosses and not just do randoms.

  • The cost of the nodes rises with each point invested.
  • Expect to spend about 6 billion crystals and around 500 Golden Crystals to max out all the nodes important to your build; much more if you want to max everything in the tree.
  • The formula for Golden Crystals is floor( tier / 22 + 2). IE on T400, you’d get 20.

How To Acquire Mythical Weapons

  • Greater Boss Anomalies were added and they drop all the materials you need to upgrade a set weapon to Mythical.

  • Greater Boss Anomalies range from Mythic VII to Mythic XV.
  • You need 10 of each of the 5 boss materials plus 2 rare parts to craft your Mythical weapon.
  • Drop rates are in flux atm, so will update with them later. In general, though, higher mythic = higher chances.
  • To forge the weapon, enter the portal in the corner to the right of Bramley; you will have to be far enough in Jones’ quest chain for it to be there.

  • Then you walk up to the forge and use it:

  • The recipe is a set weapon for your class, 10 of each Greater Boss material, and one of each rare weapon part specific to your class. Here’s templar’s as an example:

  • When you click Transmute! you get a little cutscene showing it off

  • The Mythical weapon will have better stats, an extra rune slot, 3 suffixes, and 3 prefixes. Note that the weapon will be completely rerolled; current enchants, gems, runes, and prismatic slot will be lost.

How To Acquire And Use Your Beasts

  • There are four lines of beasts, one for each section of the expedition tree.
  • You start with an egg.
  • The egg is obatined from the 5th expedition in each section of the tree.
  • Once you have the egg, you can collect materials to hatch it into a beast by using the incubator:

  • You can swap between beasts at the incubator:

  • The beast materials are most easily farmed in expeditions, but you can get them elsewhere as well.
    • Materials 1 and 2 are mob drops; you get them from killing the associated enemies. IE Skeletons for Undead Bones and Gargoyles for Gargoyle Gravel.
    • Material 3 comes from breakable objects scattered around the zones. Get your first beast hatched asap and equip the Magnetic Device and Havoc artifacts to greatly speed up gathering the materials.
  • The details below contains the number of each material required for each beast stage:
    • Egg -> Hatchling – 100 – 300 – 500
    • Hatchling -> Lesser – 300 – 500 – 800
    • Lesser -> Greater – 500 – 1000 – 2000

How To Acquire And Use Artifacts

  • Artifacts are crafted at Jones in Tinka’s Domain.

  • You Craft them in the Forge accessed through her dialogue:

  • Each Artifact costs Artifact Fragments to craft; they are obtained from expeditions upon first completion.

  • There are 3 types of Artifacts: Triangle, Rhombus, and Star.
  • Artifacts are equipped on your Ancient Beast.
    • Hatchlings get 2 Triangle slots
    • Lessers get 2 Triangle slots and 2 Rhombus slots.
    • Greaters get 2 Triangle slots, 2 Rhombus slots, and 2 Star slots.

  • You must craft all the Triangle Artifacts before Rhombus Artifacts become available; likewise, craft all the Rhombus Artifacts to open the ability to craft the Star Artifacts.
