In this simple guide, I will explain the frequent game crashes that occur at the DMV during the unskippable intro of Burnout Paradise Remastered. Additionally, I will share the method I used to resolve this issue on my laptop.

Introduction

If you’re anything like me, you decided to purchase Burnout Paradise Remastered after the original version was discontinued.

Before launching the game, you will be required to create an EA Play account, which can be quite frustrating. From this point onward, every time you start the game, EA Play will open as well. Yay.

Once you’ve completed that step, you can launch the game and endure approximately 7 minutes of meaningless scenes and intros that cannot be skipped.

When I first progressed past the unskippable intro, I found myself at the DMV, only to have my game crash. I searched for tutorials online and was astonished by the fact that a five-year-old game from a major publisher could have such a glaring, unresolved glitch.

After nearly losing hope, I stumbled upon a simple and effective fix that should hopefully work for you as well.

Now, it’s important to note that I own an Acer Nitro 5 laptop, so the process may differ slightly for you. However, it should be relatively similar for most laptops.

The game has an inconvenient feature that utilizes your laptop’s front camera to capture a picture for the driver’s permit. When the game attempts to access the camera, it causes the crash.

The Solution

Here’s what you need to do to resolve this issue:

  1. Open the Device Manager and grant administrator access if prompted.
  2. Search for “Camera” or “Imaging” in the drop-down list.
  3. Locate your front camera and disable it.
  4. If necessary, restart your PC and attempt to launch the game again.

If this method doesn’t work and you’ve exhausted all other potential solutions, I recommend requesting a refund for the game. However, I sincerely hope that this method proves successful for you!
