Early in the chapter On A Rail, there is a puzzle where you need to plug a plug into a wall socket in order to raise a bridge. Ordinarily, this is straightforward. However, there is a bug that causes the plug to spawn way under the floor. This is documented as a result of save file corruption. There are multiple bug reports on this just saying to start a new game from On A Rail or reload the save multiple times. However, here is an easier solution.
The Fix
The fix is easy and straightforward. First of all, make sure you have the developer console enabled (options > keyboard > advanced options > enable console) and then, while in the level, press the ~ key, and in the console that appears, type the following command:
ent_fire bridge_socket_plugin trigger
Conclusion
That’s it! The game should progress as it would if the plug was plugged in normally. I tested it to see if it messed anything else up, and it didn’t. I progressed to the end of the game normally.
