This guide will help you get all achievements in The Outlast Trials. It includes achievement descriptions, screenshots, loadouts, maps, and more. Since the game just left Early Access, this guide is still being worked on and will be updated regularly.
Introduction
Achievements in this game are earned through badges, which are obtained by completing in-game tasks, using equipment, and dealing with enemies. Most can be earned through normal gameplay, but a few require extra effort.
If you earned badges during Early Access, you’ll get achievements immediately upon interacting with the terminal.
Rig-Related Achievement
Mechanophiliac
Acquire the “Mechanophiliac” badge.
To earn this badge, you need to use your rig 100 times. There are 4 rig types, so choose one that fits your playstyle. Don’t stress about the meta; just go with what works for you. With enough gameplay, you’ll get this badge naturally. However, if you want to speed up the process, the X-RAY rig is likely the quickest option.
Collection-Related Achievement
Big Saver
Acquire the “Big Saver” badge.
You earn this badge after finding 15 evidence documents scattered across the map. Evidence spawns randomly, so keep an eye out during gameplay. While some locations may become familiar over time, most will require attentive observation. If you’re struggling, the X-RAY rig can help pinpoint their locations.
COOP-Related Achievements
Crowd Control
Acquire the “Crowd Control” badge.
This badge is awarded for assisting teammates by eliminating 50 enemies. Opportunities arise when allies pass enemies in hiding spots, when they’re down and being executed, or when larger enemies are engaged in attack animations. Playing with random or lower-level players may offer more chances, but intentional farming with an efficient team is also viable.
Sawbones
Acquire the “Sawbones” badge.
To earn this badge, revive or assist your teammates 50 times. When a teammate’s health depletes, they go down, and holding E can help them up. Using a syringe for revival also counts toward progress. Similar to the previous badge, progression may be quicker with less experienced teammates but can also be intentionally farmed.
Together We Are Strong
Acquire the “Together We Are Strong” badge.
This badge is granted for executing 50 cooperative moves. Cooperative moves involve tasks like breaking down heavily boarded doors requiring two people. Prioritize these actions when starting a trial with others to steadily progress toward the badge.
Trials-Related Achievements
Can’t Touch This
Acquire the “Can’t Touch This” badge.
Earn this badge by completing a Trial without sustaining any damage, a total of 10 times.
Glutton for Therapy
Acquire the “Glutton for Therapy” badge.
This badge is awarded for completing 25 Trials. Simply engage in enough gameplay, and you’ll attain this badge effortlessly. For quicker progress, consider repeating shorter missions such as ‘Sabotage The Lockdown’ or ‘Cleanse the Orphans’ to farm it efficiently.
Debuff/Damage-Related Achievements
Get Down
Acquire the “Get Down” badge.
Earn this badge by being knocked down 50 times. This achievement naturally accrues over time. If you excel in the game and find yourself being downed infrequently, consider farming it with a friend and a low-level ex-pop.
Hemophiliac
Acquire the “Hemophiliac” badge.
This badge is obtained by losing 10,000 health points. With regular gameplay, you’ll achieve this over time. However, you can expedite progress by stockpiling medicine and intentionally allowing yourself to be hit, then promptly healing. Incorporating the healing rig provides additional opportunities for healing.
Vision Quest
Acquire the “Vision Quest” badge.
Obtain this badge by spending a total of 600 seconds in full psychosis. Various triggers induce psychosis, such as door traps, traps in medicine cabinets and toolboxes, and encounters with the Pusher. The challenge lies in most players seeking an antidote immediately upon experiencing full psychosis, slowing progress towards this badge. If you’re tackling easier trials, consider outlasting your psychosis instead of using an antidote to expedite progress.
Map-Related Achievements
Anger Issues
Acquire the “Anger Issues” badge.
Earn this badge by breaking down 50 locked doors, a common occurrence on every map. I recommend equipping the ‘Doors Basher’ prescription, allowing you to break doors in only 2 hits, given its frequent use.
Chicken in a Pot
Acquire the “Chicken in a Pot” badge.
Obtain this badge by utilizing 100 hiding spots, which are unique to each map’s terrain. Examples include barrels, desks, and lockers. Consider the ‘Hide and Heal’ amp for actively pursuing this badge, instantly granting a health boost upon entering a hiding spot. Alternatively, if you find yourself taking minimal damage, ‘Hide and Breathe’ offers immediate stamina recovery in hiding spots, particularly effective when combined with the healing rig.
Sleight of Hand
Acquire the “Sleight of Hand” badge.
This badge is awarded for unlocking 100 containers. To do so, you’ll need a lock-pick, which is consumed upon use but is somewhat common throughout the trial. If fortunate enough to encounter a Confidential Room, unlocked by simultaneously pressing two buttons, acquire the master key, a non-consumable lock-pick that bypasses the skill check mini-game. Utilize it to unlock every container within reach.
Trigger Happy
Acquire the “Trigger Happy” badge.
Obtain this badge by disarming 50 door traps. Door traps can only be disarmed from one side; if you find yourself on the wrong side, you can only open the door while crouched. Identifying the correct side is indicated by a battery prompt, allowing you to interact and disarm the trap.
Item-Related Achievements
Bamboozler
Acquire the “Bamboozler” badge.
Earn this badge by distracting 50 enemies with throwables, such as bottles and bricks. Focus on using these items as distractions rather than hitting enemies directly. Bottles are preferable due to their noisier nature, making them more effective for diversion.
Bottles
Bricks
Bullseye
Acquire the “Bullseye” badge.
Obtain this badge by headshotting 50 enemies. This is most easily accomplished with stationary, unaware ex-pops. While it may seem like a waste of items, throwables are commonly found in normal trials. Consider using the ‘Recycle’ amp to convert used health bottles into throwable items if you require more.
Major League Player
Acquire the “Major League Player” badge.
Achieve this badge by hitting 100 enemies with throwables. Again, bottles and bricks are primary choices for this achievement. Remember that throwables are consumed upon hitting an enemy, so ensure you keep an eye out for replacements. The ‘Strong Arm’ amp enhances the effectiveness of all throwables when hitting an enemy.
Breathe In
Acquire the “Breathe In” badge.
This badge is awarded for using 100 antidotes, which can be found scattered around the map on surfaces, often held by deceased reagents, and within first aid boxes. In full psychosis, a nearby location will be indicated to acquire an antidote.
Antidote
Hypochondriac
Acquire the “Hypochondriac” badge.
Earn this badge by consuming 200 medicines. Avoid using the healing rig until obtaining this badge to ensure timely progress. Medicines are commonly found in first aid boxes on walls and surfaces, held by deceased reagents, and within the Confidential Room.
Medicine in a First Aid Box
Power Surge
Acquire the “Power Surge” badge.
Achieve this badge by using 100 batteries to recharge your night vision goggles. Batteries can be found in technical boxes, the rigs of deceased reagents, and within the Confidential Room.
Speed Freak
Acquire the “Spreed Freak” badge.
Obtain this badge by using 50 adrenaline items. Adrenalines provide a speed boost and unlimited stamina for a short duration. They can be located in first aid boxes, on surfaces, and carried by deceased reagents. Consider using them immediately upon discovery to avoid hoarding.
Toastmaster
Acquire the “Toastmaster” badge.
Earn this badge by using 50 rig rechargers, which immediately restore the usability of your rig. These items are relatively rare and can be found in technical boxes and within the Confidential Room.
Hoarder
Acquire the “Hoarder” badge.
This badge is granted for collecting 1,000 items. This achievement can be easily attained with minimal effort. Even if you don’t use items frequently, you can still collect and distribute them to teammates. Consider picking up excess throwables and sharing them with your team, as they tend to be overused when plentiful.
Time-Related Achievements
All these achievements can be earned through normal gameplay if you just play enough.
Hunchback
Acquire the “Hunchback” badge.
Earn this badge by spending 3,600 seconds crouched. While this naturally accumulates over time, consider utilizing the ‘Night Crawler’ amp, which enhances crouch-walking speed and improves night vision goggles battery efficiency, encouraging this behavior.
Marathoner
Acquire the “Marathoner” badge.
This badge is awarded for spending 3,600 seconds running. Similar to the previous badge, this achievement is achieved through regular gameplay. Consider equipping the ‘Noise Reduction’ amp to reduce your running noise, along with prescriptions like ‘Speed Boost’ and ‘Endurance’ to increase running speed and reduce stamina consumption, respectively.
Slip and Slider
Acquire the “Slip and Slider” badge.
Obtain this badge by spending 120 seconds sliding. Equip the ‘Slide’ prescription (Tier 1) to enable sliding. Incorporating this into your movement pattern allows you to navigate noise traps mid-chase without slowing down. As sliding duration is limited, make it a habit to slide while running, even when not actively being pursued.
Tapetum Lucidum
Acquire the “Tapetum Lucidum” badge.
Earn this badge by spending 3,600 seconds in night vision mode. While this may take longer to achieve compared to other badges, consider using the ‘Night Crawler’ amp to manage battery consumption while crouched. Alternatively, if crouching isn’t frequent, utilize the ‘Battery Charger’ amp for gradual battery recharge when not in use. Additionally, the ‘Battery Extension’ prescription extends battery life to facilitate longer periods in night vision mode.
