In a tough situation with your sub close to being destroyed? Worry not! This brief guide will cover how to keep your skin!

Introduction

Let’s assume you’re in the crash zone when you hear a loud roar. Unlike the other roars you tend to hear, this one is louder, sharp, and clear. Before you can turn around, a Reaper Leviathanlatches onto your Seamoth, dealing massive amounts of damage in the process. This guide will cover what to do in such scenarios.

Leviathan Survival Guide

To begin with, Reaper Leviathans use their roars as echolocation to see what’s around them. So if you can hear their roars, they can see you. Reaper leviathans also like to circle their prey before attacking, often trying to attack from behind.

But because you hear a distant roar, doesn’t mean you have to flee from the scene immediately. You can stay where you are while also not going closer to the area you heard the roar come from. If you have sonar, you should probably use it to see where it is precisely, but be aware that Reapers are attracted to sound.

Let’s say a Reaper’s on your tail. What do you do? If your sub isn’t damaged, you can attempt to out-maneuver the Reaper. They may be fast, but they’re slow to turn. If available, look for a possible nook to get your sub into. The perimeter defense upgrade isn’t worth using right now, since it’s unlikely to hit the reaper and is also a waste of valuable energy. It doesn’t make you invincible, and I’ve faced the consequences first-hand.

What do you do if your sub gets grabbed? If you have the perimeter defense system, now’s the best time to use it; a full charge is recommended if you have 70-90 health on your sub. If not, wait for the Reaper to leave you and hope to god it doesn’t destroy your sub. Now that it’s done playing with you, escape by any means necessary. Once you’re a safe distance away from the Reaper, repair your Seamoth to a level you feel comfortable with, then use the evasion tactics I told you about earlier to flee the scene.

Haven’t got a Seamoth on you? Your Seaglide will still save you if you play your cards right and hide in a nook or out-maneuver the Reaper.
