Bonus Tips
If you’re struggling with the game, especially during those last few intense hours, don’t sweat it! I’ve got some helpful tips to up your gameplay:
Don’t freak out when a device malfunctions!
Fixing a busted device can eat up some time. Before rushing to repair it, check if you have other devices running low on power. Charge them up first and then attend to the faulty one.
Stay calm when Sophia shows up!
Sophia’s unpredictable, man. She can pop up anytime, like when you’re about to turn a corner or heading to your notebook. So, here’s the trick: after moving somewhere or recharging a device, just chill for 2-3 seconds before clicking on anything. She tends to appear right when you’re in the middle of an action, and you really don’t want to accidentally click on her, trust me. Oh, and she loves hanging out in front of her laptop, so avoid exiting through the front after fixing a device.
If she does appear, don’t panic. She won’t instantly jump-scare you. You’ve got a bit of time to react and click away. Just be quick and don’t dilly-dally. And watch out when you’re fleeing from her and running into another room; sometimes she’s just trying to spook you when you stop.
Listen closely to the sounds!
Two crucial sounds to keep an ear out for: Sophia’s groans and the “power outage alert.”
Sophia’s groan: While recharging a device, if you hear her moaning, stop charging immediately and then try again. If you ignore it, she’ll scare the living daylights out of you.
Power outage alert: As you play, you’ll notice a specific sound signaling that the power is about to go out in a few seconds. Whenever you hear that, head to your safe spot pronto!
Safe points and the tricky choice:
Now, this tip isn’t foolproof, but it’s worth considering. I’ve never come across a safe point at B (next to the stairs) or C (bathroom door). From my experience, it’s usually either A or D. So, when you’re in a pinch and can’t check your notebook, try to recall which one was the last safe point and, if possible, the one before that. Most of the time, it’s been the same as the previous one, but it depends on the flow of safe points during that time. Choose wisely!
Patience with energy discharge:
Don’t rush when a device drops to “1%” power. Wait a bit longer, make that risky trip to recharge it count. You’ll also get a chance to top off the other devices.
Timing matters:
When there are just a few minutes left to reach the next checkpoint, don’t stress about recharging full energy if you’re already at your safe point. For example, let’s say there are 7 minutes until the next checkpoint, and all devices are nearly full. You don’t have to bother recharging them if they drop a bit. There’s enough time for the clock to run without moving, and when the checkpoint triggers, all energy bars automatically fill up.
Remember, this only applies when you’re close to specific hours for the next checkpoint: 7:00 PM, 9:00 PM, 11:00 PM, 1:00 AM, 3:00 AM, 5:00 AM, and 6:00 AM.
Oh, and don’t forget, the game isn’t over at 6:00 AM. You’ll get one last checkpoint to survive until 7:00 AM.
Stick to these tips, and you’ll find the game is more manageable than it initially appears. Even Nightmare mode isn’t as tough as you’d think. Just pay attention and you’ll nail it! Happy gaming!
