Sir, You Are Being Hunted – a game from British developers, where we, for the selected character, survive in the harsh world of robots. In this guide, I will try to explain in detail the main mechanics of the game and maybe even the plot (but partially).
Creating the Game
First, you must create your own world and choose a character.
There are only seven characters, they differ in their special skills:
- Aristocrat (selection of medium difficulty, set by default)
- The huntsman (with him the start is easy, since he initially has an ax (weapon)
- Officer (has a revolver and a long-range rifle in his arsenal)
- Geographer (the most cheating character, has a special device for finding Device artifacts)
- Artist (“Can war be art?”)
- Chef (“At least you won’t starve to death”)
- A drunkard (this is a person who can be trusted simply because he has a huge case of beer)
The choice of the character depends on your tactics against the robots. Plus, you can change gender in the main menu, becoming Sir or Madam.
Next, you need to assign the type of islands. There are only 5 islands: Central, Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western, and 5 types: Rural, Castle, Swamp, Industrial, and Mountain.
The central island remains rural and does not change.
The island type also changes the battle tactics, as well as the amount and type of loot. So in the Industrial “district”, you can find a bunch of dynamite.
In addition, you can change the settings for the number of robots in the “Edit Robots” menu. You can either increase their number for more hardcore, or lower them just to get comfortable in the game without any problems.
Main Plot
Note: The following contains spoilers.
The plot is practically shown in the video after the creation of the world.
In this video, Mr. Walter talks about our failed experiment with a device that sent us to an alternate world. Shards (artifacts) Devices are scattered throughout the archipelago, and the player will need to find them. But the main character is not alone in this archipelago.
The horde of robots, realizing this, opens the hunting season and is looking for a player on all the islands. The artifacts themselves must be displayed on some kind of mystical tapestry (which, in my opinion, has a very powerful connection with the Earth’s magnetic field).
It’s also no secret that the alternate dimension also has its own history. We learn about him from letters and books.
People write in letters asking them to deal with the mysticism around the island or leave the village immediately.
It is not uncommon to find letters written by the robots themselves asking humans to submit to their authority. And, perhaps, people did not listen, made a counterattack against the robots, or made an attempt to escape from the island, but it was all in vain.
There are tales and tales in the books about the heroes who defeated the robots, which only proves that the enemies once terrorized the village.
However, the developers only opened the veil of secrets. Whether they will further develop the lore, at least in a reprint, is unknown.
Constant Search and Gathering
Sir, you are being hunted – this is a game in which you will have to constantly run from village to village, from artifact to artifact. But in addition to the main task, you still need to complete an additional one – the search for food and weapons.
The easiest way is to look for the places of residence of its former inhabitants: villages, churches, individual houses, and warehouses.
Items are divided into several categories: Equipped (weapons, distracting and auxiliary items), Useable (these are food, ammunition, matches), Doubtful, these are things that only harm the player), Junk (nothing good) and Mysterious (these are artifacts).
Health, Vitality, Visibility, and Current Item
Health: whatever one may say, in any game, there is this indicator. The difficulty with health in the game is only one – bleeding. By itself, it does not stop, a bandage is needed to eliminate it.
Vitality: This is, one might say, an indicator of satiety of your character. It’s simple – look for food. Drop to zero – die, to be honest, an inglorious death.
Visibility on the HUD is indicated by an eye icon in the lower-left corner. He is responsible for the level of exposure you to robots.
If the pupil is hidden, it means that the robots cannot see you, but they can see if you are too close to them, so do not overdo it with stealth. To hide, press the C button (by default it is pressed once). Hide in the tall grass.
The waves around the pupil indicate the noise level. I don’t advise making too much noise either, robots hear everything.
All three indicators are located in the lower-left corner. In the lower right corner is the window of the equipped item (Flashlight).
Weapons
With weapons, the developers have tried very well. Muskets, sniper rifles, shotguns and revolvers are all made in the spirit of the Victorian era. All weapons have their own types of ammo. They are either found in houses or in dead robots.
The musket is most easy for found it. One clip can hold two cartridges.
Shotgun can be found from poachers. It is very powerful in terms of damage and can shoot up to three to five robots (but very inaccurate (!). Oh yes, only one cartridge is placed in the barrel.
Sniper rifle – the name speaks for itself. One cartridge is placed in the clip.
The revolver is just as optimal as the musket, but still hard to find. The clip holds six rounds. Very fast-paced.
The shot is made with the MOUSE 1 button (left mouse button).
To aim, you need to hold down MOUSE 2 (right mouse button).
And keep in mind: the generally accepted game rules for hits work, so aim at the enemies in the HEAD.
Extra Items
In addition to weapons, there are still a bunch of things that can be used for the benefit of person.
Some help in distracting robots (These are bottles, trombones, dynamites (partially, but still serve to damage enemies), alarm clocks, stones).
The second one help a person in moving up the gaming ladder (Binoculars, a flashlight, a metal detector (I call it an “artifact detector”).
Robots
Hunters
These are the very first opponents we meet. Armed with a musket. They go either one or a group of two to six robots and, sometimes, they are difficult to kill.
Hunting dogs
Fast and agile opponents. When attacked, the player is stunned and bitten. At this point, I recommend not making unnecessary movements, as this will cause bleeding (in short, it’s more expensive for yourself, because you may not have bandages). They die with one shot, but they cannot be eliminated in close combat.
Landowner
Usually the Landlord is alone on the island (of his kind), but he is very stubborn. He walks two dogs and can stun you at close range. And if he notices you, he will follow you on your heels until you completely hide from him. It’s impossible to kill.
Poachers
Usually, they can be found in forest thickets. Their main advantage is their small height, due to which the robots are not visible. They also set traps everywhere. If you don’t need ammo, just beware of the thickets.
Squire
This is such a “big robot uncle” that protects the village from thieves and other criminals. At first, he treats you neutrally and even friendly. But as soon as you start “stealing” the houses of “residents” or killing other robots, he will open fire on you. Trying to kill him can cost you ammo, life, and stealth.
Iron rider.
“The MOST BEAUTIFUL PRINCE OF ALL THE BEAUTIFUL” (c) My opinion
They usually appear when the last island is left on your list. The name speaks for itself. If he sees you, he will run up to you in a few seconds and stun you (his attack takes about 40 HP). It kills in one hit, but try to aim at him, especially when he is in front.
The guard and his air balloon
It flies around the island and shines with a searchlight. Turns on the siren if it sees you. It is impossible to kill or shoot down.
Scarecrow
Activates on the last island. Works like Slenderman – follows you when you’re not looking at him. In addition, it makes sounds that attract other robots. You can kill him. But if you don’t want unnecessary problems – beware of the fields or go backward (looking at the scarecrow).
Water Robot Monster
Lives in the waters. Works as a player limiter to keep them from floating out of the map. Attacks when the player is in the water for too long.
Special Tactics
The simplest and most time-honored tactic is to be stealthy and attack the robots first. The sounds of gunshots attract them, so don’t give the robots a chance to fire. If you missed this moment, kill the robots, steal all their gear and run from the battlefield as fast as you can.
By the way, robots shoot very crookedly. This is a great opportunity to use a tactic that I usually call “Axe Blitzkrieg”. Just go at the opponents with the Shift key pressed and dodge the shots, and then hit the ax with all your might. Fortunately, the robots will not shoot at close range (they will try to move away from you).
