Yarne – Level Hints and Solutions Guide

How to Use this Guide

This guide is less of a walkthrough and more intended as a resource to look up hints and full solutions if you ever get stuck. Therefore the levels are in alphabetical order. Simply look in the bottom left of the stage you’re stuck on for the name of the level, then look it up in this guide (easiest done by searching the page via CTRL+F). Most entries provides you some helpful numbers, an image with a partial solution as a hint and a second image with a full solution. Take note that all levels allow for multiple solutions, so this guide will only show you one of many possible solutions.

Yarne offers a board made of hexagonal tiles. Strings are coiled up into polygonal shapes that need to be stretched out. Crossing the edge from one tile into a bordering tile counts as a move and shortens the string. On the final tile a string will terminate in an ending. This leaves us with two helpful numbers:

Surplus edges

tells you how many edges will be left unused in the final, solved state of the board. More surplus edges usually denote an easier level since you don’t have to perfectly pack the strings. If you keep the number in mind and a count of the number of edges that are currently impossible to solve on your board you can tell whether your current state is still theoretically solvable or not.

Surplus endings

tells you how many endings of strings are accounted for. If a tile has 3 edges (and no beginning shape) it must get at least one ending to be fully used up. A level with 0 surplus endings is comparatively easy as you know all valid ending spots just from the layout of the board.
