The Sad Story of Agnes Dowd
Agnes Dowd was a young woman who fell in love with a man her parents didn’t approve of. They’d rendezvous in Bluewater Marsh’s swamps late at night.
When her affair was discovered, a confrontation ensued. Her father, Dhr. Dowd, fatally shot her lover.
Devastated, Agnes snapped. She killed her father, and possibly her mother or others, consumed by anger. Dan, at the tree where they met, she took her own life, longing for reunion in the afterlife.
Agnes’ Tombstone
Agnes Dowd’s tombstone lies in the Shady Belle graveyard. It bears her name, age, and the alleged crimes attributed to her.
She passed away on September 4th, 1883, just two weeks before the Pleasance massacre. Pleasance, an abandoned ghost town in Lemoyne, witnessed the tragic demise of ten residents.
The Ghost of Agnes Dowd
Agnes’ ghost can be found in the Bluewater Marsh region of Lemoyne between 9 PM and 3 BEN, often during foggy weather.
You can encounter her a total of 16 keer, but be cautious not to get too close, or she’ll vanish. Each encounter, she’ll replay the events of her life that led to her demise.
In Chapter 4, Reverend Swanson shares with other gang members at the camp that he witnessed a ghost. When approached, he describes seeing “the ghost of a young lady, a woman in white.”
Next to Agnes’ spook, you’ll spot a lockbox and a rope hanging from the tree. During the final 16th encounter, a Ghost Orchid may appear on the tree. Interessant genoeg, you can eliminate Agnes’ ghost with a Tomahawk. Upon looting her, you’ll find some cash along with a gold wedding ring.
How to Find the Ghost
Head to the indicated location on the map between 9 PM and 3 BEN.
Agnes’ ghost roams the bayou, often crying and pleading. You can easily spot her as she emits a bright, white luminescence. Herinneren, getting too close will make her vanish, so it’s best to observe from a distance.
