Doing the tutorial is recommended. ES is a unique game and has a lot more depth than many VR titles. Getting used to the controls may take some time. We recommend doing the tutorial and checking out the below links. We also have a meningsverschil and are happy to answer any questions.

In ES, you use your hands to move around and carry out the many tasks during battle. For most users, we recommend enabling joystick movement and grip rotation in the game’s settings. These are kept off initially for people who experience motion sickness, but the vast majority of people prefer to use them and we find them to be fairly comfortable.

ES follows a ‘direct manipluation’ idiom for interacting with user interfaces. This means that most of the time your hand has to make contact with a button to activate it (it does not use a laser pointer style interface).

• Trekker: Click buttons, pick up interactable objects (such as system icons for setting targets etc)
• Grip: Move around and zoom-in and out. Grip with one hand to move, grip with both hands to move / schaal / rotate. In de strijd, grip can be used to cancel picking up an icon.
• Joystick: Up and down move forward and backwards, left and right rotate
• A button / Touchpad: Used in battle to Pause the game or when you hover your hand over a ship, it will select the ship and pause the game. Select the ship allows you to set the ship’s target and use it’s systems.

Note that you can adjust the position of your console on the ship bridge by using the handles. Same goes for the desk in the title area.

Note that you can target specific systems on enemy ships. Select the enemy ship, then zoom in until you can see it’s system icons. Click on a system to target that system. All your ships will prefer attacking the ship there which increases your chance of damaging that system.

Tips and tricks video

This tutorial features a hard mode playthrough of the Story mode campaign. A lot of the tips and tricks here apply to all the modes and it’s worth a watch to learn some of the finer strategies.

Other tricks and tips

• Fold can be a good way to escape and it also inflicts damage and status effects on enemies (and missiles) if you fold through them.
• Inflector (push) Can push ships (or asteroids) into each other and can also reverse the course of projectiles allowing you to make them hit enemies.
• Translocator can be used to switch places with an enemy so that you make them shoot themselves.
• The Hack system will permanently steal enemy fighters. Other ships will target their own team.
• Piercing items (Rail gun) have a big bonus for hitting ship systems.
• Disruptors have increased chance for disabling ship systems and weapons.
• Some weapons do more damage against shields than armor or hulls. The order that you use your special weapons may matter.
• Always repair after a battle.
• In Endless mode, keep an eye on the enemy fleet strength and gauge your own strength against it. Sometimes it may make sense to avoid stronger fleets.
