Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition – Anti-crash en DLC Fix

For the Steam version of Dragon Age: Ontstaan, there are some inherent issues that can affect the gameplay experience. As this game holds a special place among my favorites, I have created this guide for my personal convenience. While there are other existing guides that address these issues, I wanted to have a reference that is easily accessible for myself. If you happen to come across this guide as well, I sincerely hope it proves helpful to you too! The instructions provided here will resolve DLC-related problems and enhance the game’s performance by utilizing a 4 gig executable file. This executable not only addresses various crashes but also greatly improves the modding experience.

Fixing the DLC

For many individuals, the DLCs are not automatically activated due to the discontinuation of the old EA servers. After extracting the downloaded file, move it to the following directory:

C:\Programmabestanden (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dragon Age Ultimate Edition\bin_ship\

Please note that the Steam overlay and all Steam-related features should continue to work without any issues after applying this fix. In case you encounter difficulties opening the Steam overlay while running the game, you can add the “daorigins.exe” file to Steam as a “non-Steam game” and launch the game through the “daorigins.exe” Steam shortcut.

If you prefer to personally apply the LAA patch to the “daorigins.exe” bestand, I’m happy to provide you with the necessary steps:

1. Begin by downloading the 1.05 version of “daorigins.exe” from the following link.

3. Extract both downloaded .zip files, which will result in two files: “daorigins.exe” en “4gb_patch.exe”.
4. Move the “daorigins.exe” file to the following directory: C:\Programmabestanden (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dragon Age Ultimate Edition\bin_ship\
5. Run the “4gb_patch.exe” file and navigate to the location of the “daorigins.exe” file that you just moved.
6. Once you’ve located the file, select it, and the patching process will be completed.
