This guide will show you some of the most important tips and tricks for new players in dotAGE.

Belangrijk

  • Signposts make more land that you can use.
  • When you learn new things in the game, they work in the future, not right now. Leuk vinden, if you learn about fish, you won’t suddenly have fish in your game that you’re playing now. It’s like a special kind of learning for later, while the tech tree is for what you can do in your current game.
  • When you start a game, see what things you can learn. Check what stuff they need to work – like heating might need wood or something else. If you don’t know this and try to use heating when it needs something different, you might have a problem.
  • Think about whether you have wells (they need water) or mountain springs (they need a rock).
  • Ook, see if you have pools (they need water) or fans (they don’t need anything, but you need hemp to make them).

Gebouwen

  • Certain buildings need a “path to dwelling,” which means they want a house nearby, and all the ground between them should be empty.
  • The fancier buildings need cobblestone paths that go to your town center. Net als de “path to dwelling,” they need a path made of cobblestone to be put down.

Bronnen

  • You can use a resource right away when it’s made.
  • Vanwege dit, you can move workers to make sure you don’t run out of something right away.
  • Bijvoorbeeld, if you have no hemp, but a forager is making hemp this turn, you can use it in any building that needs hemp.
  • If a building has a broken arrow on its production, it takes many turns. Like the basic hunter’s tent needs three turns to make something, but the upgrade does it in one turn.
  • You can get milk from sheep.
  • Plowed soil makes some crops better, but you don’t have to plow to plant. Dus, you can learn and plant crops before you learn plowing.
  • You can plow soil under trees to make them produce more. This works for any full-grown fruit tree, even if it came with the map.
  • The bonuses from plowed soil and fertile soil don’t add up. There’s no point in plowing fertile soil.

Prophesy – Omens, Evenementen, and Dooms

  • One of the areas is stronger than the others every time you play, so get ready to deal with that one first.
  • Dat kan “redden ” hoop, gezondheid, enz., for later. Bijvoorbeeld, you can make hope even if there are no bad things coming. This helps when something scary happens later. Maar onthoud, it resets after the bad stuff goes away, so you can only save for the next bad thing, not any more after that.
  • You can’t do anything to stop or change omens, so you don’t need to work extra to stop them from happening. In plaats van, make buildings that can help with the bad things that come with the omen. Leuk vinden, if it’s about health, make buildings that can fix health problems.

Seasons

  • When the seasons change, there’s always a countdown for hot or cold events, even if it’s not in the prophecy. Fall means “cold” evenementen, and spring means “hot” evenementen. For other things, you might get lucky and not need to counter them this season, but there will always be seasonal events.
  • Because of how seasonal events work, je hebt nodig “cooling” buildings for the first two seasons, no matter which domain is strongest.
  • You’ll also need to make some “heating” buildings before fall. Knowing this helps you plan ahead before fall comes.
  • Snow doesn’t go away in spring or summer. Every snowy place gets a -1 boete, so if the whole map is snowy, it’s tough to fix. Maar, snow only happens because of random events or failing to stop disasters.
  • You can dig up snow with tools, but if you don’t have any, you can also get rid of snow by making “clearings” or putting buildings with clearings under them.
  • In winter, animals don’t come back on the map after they’re gone, and most crops don’t grow.
  • Winter is shorter than the other seasons.

Pips

  • If you don’t give pips food, they can get sick.
  • You can take away a pip’s job from the “Pips Recap” in the top right corner. Just click the red X next to what they’re doing, and then you can teach them to do something else.
  • You can also do a special click to see a pip’s info directly.
  • Make buildings that can fix bad stuff before it happens. Leuk vinden, if you wait until your pip is sick to learn how to help them, it might be too late for the next bad thing.
  • If a pip is hurt or sick and you don’t have the tech to help them now, you can take away their job and teach another pip to do it instead of waiting for them to get better.
