DOOM Eternal Blood Swamps Secret Encounter Bug

There is a secret encounter on the right path of the Blood Swamps level (Ancient Gods part 1 campagne) which may seem to be impossible to reach because of the “beestje”. No matter how much you try to get up there – Doomguy simply won’t grab the ledge, even though it seems so close.

Now let me explain, I’ve written “beestje” in quotes because it’s not actually a bug, you just have to get to that secret from an entirely different entrance. I believe it used to be possible to simply jump to that ledge before – but that wasn’t the intended way the developers wanted players to get there, so that’s why they added an invisible wall to make sure you go there the intended way.

The Wrong Way

The moment you see the way to the secret encounter you probably tried to just jump up there right after grabbing the lore file and then were surprised like “Wachten, why doesn’t he grab the ledge? Is it bugged?”. That’s what I was thinking anyway.

Turns out it’s not reachable from this point, even though you clearly see that Doomguy would be able to climb there. Goed, the thing is – the devs have added a huge invisible wall blocking the way up, because they intended you to go a different route.

The Right Way

As soon as you finish the running wolf sequence you will end up in an open area with some pillars/platforms nearby. Jump on one of those platforms. Search for a monkey bar that leads to a hidden climbable wall. That’s our way to the secret encounter.

That’s the monkey bar we’re looking for. Jump to it and then to a climbable wall. De “Secret Found” should pop up as soon as you reach the top. Daarna, you’ll know where to go.

Conclusie
