This guide will show you how to set up the mod that will automatically use your generic monitor resolution, optional windowed mode, and without hex editing beeded.

Version 0.3 includes a fix for black bars on specific displays and an optional windowed mode toggle. This update may be beneficial for those using non-16:9 aspect ratios.

It can modify custom resolution values in real-time while you’re playing the game, without requiring any changes to the game’s executable file. It only impacts the parts of the game’s code related to resolution, so it’s less likely to cause issues with other aspects of the game, in contrast to the hex method that involves searching and replacing values.

Setup

To ensure this works properly, use the original game executable (EXE) without any hex modifications applied. Otherwise, it won’t locate the values to patch.

Here’s how to set it up:

1. Extract all the files from the ZIP archive into your game folder. Place them alongside the launcher.exe and other game files.
2. Optionally, you can edit the SUWSF.ini file with your desired resolution. By default, it uses “auto,” which should match your desktop resolution. If you have a non-standard resolution, you can specify it in the INI file.
3. You can also enable windowed mode by editing the INI file under the [Patch:WindowedMode] section. This is recommended for users with non-16:9 aspect ratios.
4. After making any necessary adjustments, run the game, and you can enjoy it with the custom resolution settings you’ve configured.

Other Details

This tool utilizes SUWSF to manage the patching of the game with the new resolution, and it also uses the Ultimate ASI Loader to load these changes. The primary patches are specified in the SUWSF.ini file.

I haven’t come across any issues with this tool myself, but my testing has been limited to 16:9 resolutions. It would be interesting to see how it performs with other aspect ratios.

Special thanks to the user on /v/ who demonstrated that resolution editing was possible. It’s unfortunate that such a fundamental feature had to be added through modding.

Additionally, there’s another plugin in development on GitHub that appears to offer similar features to this tool. It’s worth keeping an eye on it for potential user interface (UI) improvements in the future.
