Siege of Avalon: 시집 – How to defeat Mithras (as a Warrior)

What you should know and consider

시작하기 전에, some short catchwords about the background of the guide and the mechanics it is based on.

I have been playing Siege of Avalon a lot of times since its very first days, when one chapter was published after an other. I absolutely prefer playing as a knight, and while I always enjoy the style of running into the Sha’ahoul and fighting them with sword and shield, I had to face the fact, that it was nearly impossible to defeat Mithras this way. The idea, how to get this done, came in a mixture of deparation and accident – and it works. But a few things have to be considered right from the beginning of the game, so that’s why this guide won’t match the taste of everybody.

Siege of Avalon is based on six chapters, while three of them are optional. To ensure, that you don’t have to play them all to be able to handle the epic quest, your enemies get stronger the more XP you spend (not earn!). 즉, on a theoretical point of view you can play the entire game without spending one single point on your character.

Nevertheless you should, especially at all the trainers. They have an excellent return-on-invest ratio, so you should always learn everything they can teach you. Everything else makes your opponents in the same way stronger as you, so I don’t see any point (get the joke? 😉 ) in pushing the stats to the limits. And this is the main pre-condition or requirement for this guide: save all the points, you don’t need for the trainings, until you are facing Mithras.

How you (~할 수 있다) 그것을 해라

If you have played all optional chapters, completed all the quests you came across and killed all opponents you could find, you should have somewhat between 800 그리고 1000 XP, that are waiting to be spent (given you completed all the trainings). 내 경우에는, I aditionally spent some points on coordination to increase attack speed.

지금, to cut it short: As soon as you reach the final battle (the area where you are fighting one on one with Mithras), quickly open your character sheet and push all those points into strength to level your damage.

After closing the character sheet, run directly to Mithras (before he can spawn his spells) and get him down on his knees, so you can take revenge for all the pain he caused.

How to make a good story out of it

For me as a kind of purist and idealist, the tactic described above sometimes feels like defeating the game with its own mechanics. And since the final fight takes only a few seconds, it does not share the epic feeling of all the adventures and challenges, that led us to this point.

To make it not feel like a glitch, I try to convince myself, that spending hundreds of experience points in one single second (예, it takes a bit longer to click dozens of times) is just like a sudden inspiration, setting powers and strengths free, you didn’t expect to have in yourself until this particular point. Facing Mithras lets it all make sense; you are standing face to face with the personified evil and you know, that all you have is a couple of surprisingly powerful strikes to save mankind from slavery and agony.

So let all the hope of the brave defenders of Avalon empower yourself, so that you find the strength to defeat Mithras and bring the story to a good end!
