Here’s a simplified guide to help you rebind buttons on any controller for Secretos de Grindea using Steam’s built-in controller reconfigurator.
Cómo reasignar las claves del controlador
I haven’t yet given the whole editing controller controls thing a whirl in SoG using Steam’s nifty built-in controller rebind feature. Pero se corre la voz en la calle digital, according to Steam, it’s supposed to play nice with ANY game on their platform.
Sin embargo, I did roll up my sleeves and put in some elbow grease testing it out on another old indie gem from 2014 just to see if it’s still got the magic touch (didn’t wanna throw off the mojo of SoG’s default controls, sabes?). And honestly, after tinkering around with it for a bit, it seems to be smooth sailing.
Ahora, if you’re itching to give it a shot in SoG, here’s a quick rundown on how to crack open the controller button rebind vault. (And yeah, this should apply to SoG too). Oh, and just a heads up, I haven’t dabbled with anything involving movement or trigger keys yet, but the lowdown on fiddling with trigger keys should be pretty much the same or at least close.
Primero, head to your Steam library and locate the game you wish to adjust your controller settings for.
Próximo, right-click on the game with your mouse. A small menu will pop up, offering options like Play, Add to Favorites, Add to, Remove from, Administrar, and Properties. Hacer clic en «Propiedades.»
Upon clicking «Propiedades,» another window will appear, presenting a menu with five options on the left-hand side: General, Actualizaciones, Archivos instalados, Betas, and Controller. Navega hasta el «Controlador» option and left-click on it.
Ahora, you’ll be directed to the controller menu. At the top of this menu, you should see the message: «Steam Input allows any controller to be used with any Steam game and enables controller reconfiguration. Use the controller configurator to see more details or remap your controller.» This indicates that you’ve successfully accessed the controller settings.
Underneath that text, encontrarás «Override for (insert name of the game you choose here)» followed by a dropdown menu. Por defecto, dice «Disable Steam Input.» Click on the dropdown arrow and select «Enable Steam Input.»
Ahora, referring to the text above, particularmente «override for (insert name of your game you choose here),» you’ll notice that the two words «Controller Configurator» are underlined. Click on it to open up the Steam Controller Key rebinding program.
This action will open a new screen. At the very top, you’ll see the name of your game with the words «Controller Layout.» Además, there will be three pictures of controllers (you might see more than three, but I use a Logitech F310 controller that any game on Steam identifies as an Xbox controller, so I only see three pictures of controllers): one Xbox controller and two PlayStation controllers (one might be a PS4, and the other could be a PS5, though I’m not certain, as I haven’t owned any consoles in over 23 años).
You’ll also notice a green check mark beneath the controller labeled «Your controller,» indicating that this is the controller recognized by both the game and Steam as the one you’re using for the game in question.
si lo deseas, you can click on «View Layout» to see the function of each button. Por defecto, you should see descriptions like «Left Bumper LB,» «Standard Analog Trigger LT,» «Seleccionar» (whatever symbol your controller uses for select), «Right Bumper RB,» y así sucesivamente. The reason it displays both the full name of the button and its short form is to indicate the button’s current function and what is bound to it.
Por ejemplo, if you decide to change your right bumper button on your controller (RB) to act as your A button instead, it should appear on the controller layout screen as «RB A Button.» Sin embargo, remember that if you make a change like this, you must manually adjust your A button to register as your new right bumper button, so it shows up as «A Right Bumper» on the controller layout screen. (The A, B, X, Y button layouts should be in the bottom-right corner of the controller layout screen.)
After reviewing your current controller layout, press the Esc key on your keyboard to return to the previous screen. Recordar, always use the Esc button to go back to the previous page when using this program; it autosaves any changes you make, so manual saving isn’t necessary.
Ahora, hacer clic en «Edit Layout.»
In the edit layout screen, you’ll see four options on the left side: Botones, Dpad, Triggers, and Joysticks, with buttons being the default selection.
To change the desired button to the new button, left-click on the box to the right of the button in question. Por ejemplo, a green A button should be on the left of your current screen with a box saying «A button» A la derecha, and it should be the same for the other keys (p.ej., red B with «B button» a la izquierda, etcétera).
This action will bring up another new screen with a picture of your controller in the middle. En la parte superior de la pantalla, you should also see «GAMEPAD MOUSE KEYBOARD NUMPAD ACTION SETS SYSTEM.» Actualmente, it is selected on «GAMEPAD» since you should be seeing a gamepad in the middle of the screen. If you do not see a picture of a gamepad in the middle of the screen, then left-click on «GAMEPAD» at the top of the screen to return to it.
para proceder, simply left-click with your mouse on the new button you want the button in question to be. Por ejemplo, if you wish to change your A button to register in the game as your Right Bumper button, left-click on Right Bumper.
Al hacer esto, you’ll return to the previous screen, and in the box to the right of the green A button, it should now display «Right Bumper.» Felicidades! You have successfully rebound your first button using Steam Controller Rebind. Ahora, be sure to repeat steps 11 y 12 for the RB button so that the RB button now registers as the A Button.
Nota: I’ve also checked the Dpad, Triggers, and Joystick menu areas. Clicking on them brings up the keybinds, and clicking on the right boxes brings up the exact same menu for the buttons. Entonces, it seems you can repeat steps 11 y 12 for everything.
Regarding the keyboard, I recommend using the in-game key rebinds. I was able to rebind the keyboard controls to a generic MMORPG setup in about 45 segundos más o menos. It’s very easy. También, I know the picture for the guide isn’t great or the proper size. I’m lazy and just quickly copied and pasted a SoG game pic from Google and shrunk it to fit within the size parameters. I didn’t want to spend a lot of time on something that doesn’t matter much at the end of the day.
Con un poco de suerte, this helps people out. Recordar, a non-frustrated gamer is a happy gamer, and we all want to enjoy this game that we’ve all waited a long time for (para mí, it’s been a 5-year, 4-month wait or so). feliz juego, todos!
