Quick easy guide and allows you to hit all your objectives. A lot of bad advice out there, I wanted to make a better guide without any crazy or risky plays. Doesn’t cover every possible scenario but hard to go wrong if you follow my tips. legendary difficulty.
Beginner’s Tips
Army comp tips:
Grundsätzlich, the strategy is to have a lot of missile units and cav. The Cav gives them the run around while slingers and archers pelt away at them. You start with tier 2 light cav units, which is a very strong early game. A few spears to protect your archers, then only a few infantry to clean up the stagglers.

- Upgrade the main settlement and move the scout just east of gassanids, so you can see tanukids and what sassanids are up to. Set settlement to religious influence. Just stay at home turn 1 to prevent tanukids from raiding you. The next turn you can set a war target for gassanids. you can then move close by and sassanids will camp the settlement for you allowing you to take it. (sometimes gassanids just leave and run away it’s always different) with a war target you won’t need to recruit 1 million heavy spears, you don’t need to recruit anything. Don’t break the bank.
- Depending on what happens, Sassys will probably pull you into a war with eastern Rome. This is great because you will have easy settelment to loot and capture nearby. Nearby resources will put you in a good trade position. Keep the sassanids happy for now.
- You are going to want to expand your territory while keeping the Romans at bay. Capturin eyptos is probably the next move. You can also raid Saba, the Jews to the south, if you want them to declare war on you and capture that. But be careful of fighting wars on multiple fronts. I stayed trading with them for a while. The water west of Arabia gives you easy access to looting and raiding Roman allies. The abandoned settlement has iron but is expensive to colonize. It may be colonized already. This will save you money when you steal it. I took it early, but you may want to wait as it can be a heavy investment.
- Carefully manage ur religion and diplomacy, and income, while using rebellions to train ur generals. This is quite tricky and you will have a lot on your plate. Manage ur wars carefully. Companion tents are a good temp source of income and can be used to get rid of the previous religions. I stayed Christian for all early game. Try to loot nearby settlements before you expand to upgrade ur own. Don’t expand too quickly as you have a lot to manage.
- Sassanids should be weak now and not at home. Be careful as Romans can come across the water from Constantinople so keep lands defended. Should be easy to take sassanids main settlements. Watch for white huns to the east.
- Having had war with the Sassanids, you should now be in better standing with Rome, hoffentlich, and you can peace out for hefty tribute and ally with Rome if you like.
