Extreme survival milestones require you to spend a certain amount of sols (day/night cycles) on an extreme planet. For some, an extreme planet has either extreme weather or aggressive sentinels, both of which appear as red text in the lower left corner when exiting your ship.

You can check if the timer is counting under the pause menu, milestones, journey, and extreme survival. Conditions and explanations

It’s important to notice that you can be inside a cave, a building, or even a base and it will work. You don’t need to be exposed to the weather.

If you have died after your current milestone high score, it will internally reset to zero, but won’t show you! For it to display higher values and to progress further, you’ll need to make a better score. Say you died while it was 9 Sols, it will begin to increase again after it reaches 9.1 Sols.

There are two restrictions related to older versions that aren’t in use anymore. Nämlich, that you can’t board your ship or exit the planet. Now doing either of those only pauses your sols count. Suggested planet and base

The base is just outside the portal and teleporters take you to a lounge, couple of sofas, beatbox, cooking station, four landing pads, and soon a poledance for your pets.
