Have a question about Crash Drive 3?
maybe the answer is here
Q) Why can’t I see aliens and astronauts in my game?
A) Some versions of the game (Switch, mobile and PC on low graphics settings, for example) do not have all the aliens and astronauts you may have seen in youtube clips. There is always at least one alien (on the moon near a pyramid) so you can get the ‘earth defense force’ achievement, but others are excluded to keep the memory usage low enough. They do not really affect the gameplay.
Q) Why do other players earn more/less than me for doing similar things?
A) This is a difference between platforms. On platforms where the game is purchased (e.g. PC, consoles) the rewards are greater, on platforms where the game is free (e.g. mobiles), the rewards are less. Mobile versions also have “gems” which make buying all the vehicles harder. Presumably this is to encourage people who got the game for free to splash out a little cash (but it is still entirely optional).
Q) Do some platforms have an advantage in play?
A) I think the various platforms are fairly well balanced. One advantage in play is whether you have a controller. In my opinion a touch screen is harder to use than a controller for some stunts, so consider linking your phone to a controller and use that to play. Even on a PC there are some things you can do on a controller you can’t on a keyboard (look up and down for example).
Q) How to people get such massive stunt scores? (e.g. greater than 100K in a stunt event)
A) I think the secret is to do a series of small stunts in quick succession, making sure to get good or perfect landings. This will multiply the score you get for the stunt and also refill your boost ready for the next stunt. If you make a really bad landing you lose the score for the stunt.
Q) How do I join a friend?
A1) You can add another player as a friend by going to the playerlist from the pause menu, selecting the player and choosing ‘Add Friend’. There is no accept/reject process, you can just add any other player you like. This is entirely in-game and is not connected with steam friends or any other friends setup. Once a player is added, you will see them in the ‘CD3 Friends’ list whenever they are playing, and you can then join them.
A2) You can also give a friend your room code (also on the pause menu) and they can use ‘Join Room’ to join you.
Q) Do the trampolines work?
A) There is a trampoline on the highest asteroid and also out of bounds in Canyons. They don’t really work as you would expect. You can occasionally get a small bounce and very occasionally a massive bounce, but it is quite difficult and very unpredictable. Some parts of the edge seems to give a better bounce than the middle.
Q) Do I have to join in events?
A) Just do whatever you want and join in if you feel like it. You can make money from most events just by taking part, you don’t need to win. There is an option to avoid being automatically teleported to the start of a race. Usually in a busy room there are several people who are finding rings, collectibles, just exploring and not joining events. This is not a problem and gives other players extra points. The more players in a room, the higher the rewards.
Q) How do I turn the siren on or off
A) A tap on the horn will turn the siren on or off, hold it for longer to sound the horn. Some vehicles have sirens or lights (fire engine, cop car, ambulance, tow truck, swat van), some have music or other effects (ice cream van, pimpmobile)
Q) What are the four progress bars when maxing a vehicle?
A) Speed, Acceleration, Boost and Handling
Handling is increased by drifting. The first 20% of the progress bars is easy, it gets harder until the last 20% is harder than all the first 80% (apparently progress bars have their own arithmetic). This may be useful if you have a bit of cash to max the car it’s more effective to save it to complete the last little bit.
Q) What is gilding and does it make the vehicles better?
A) Gilding gives a shiny gold effect, but has absolutely no effect on the vehicle’s performance. It is entirely cosmetic and is really for when you have more money than you know what to do with. The effect is a little over the top, for example even windows are gilded. When you have purchased it for a vehicle, you can turn it on or off as you like
Q) Do the different boosts, license plates, antennas, etc options affect car performance or statistics?
No, they are just for aesthetics.
Q) What is prestige and should I do it?
A) When you have bought and maxed out all the vehicles, there will be an option on the main menu to ‘Prestige’. This is how you increase your player level beyond 48. It will reset the vehicles to unpurchased and unmaxed, so you will have to go through it all again. Any additional purchases you have made like antennas, boosts, gilding will not be lost. There is almost no benefit to having a larger player level, so I advise against prestiging unless you enjoy that part of the game. The only noticeable benefit to a higher player level is an additional player name color becomes available every 10 levels.
Q) Will new cars, game modes or worlds be added later?
A) My guess is: probably not. Maybe one day we’ll get Crash Drive 4 though.
Q) How do I change my in-game name?
A) Your name is taken from Steam, Playstation network, Google Play, etc, depending on what platform you are playing on. Change it on there and it will change in CD3.
Q) Is there a split-screen local multiplayer option?
A) Sadly, No. This would be fun though.
Q) What is the tank battle player level?
A) In addition to the main game player level, there is a tank battle player level. This increases as you do well in tank battles. It is entirely independent of the main game player level and the only way to increase it is to play tank battles. The higher the level, the slower it increases. It may give you some idea how good the players in your game are. Normally the higher level players are at the top of the scoreboard.
Q) How can I talk to other players?
A1) There is a simple in-game chat with fixed messages like Hello, Well played, See you. It’s very simplistic but each player sees the messages in their selected language.
A2) There is an M2H discord server with a Crash Drive 3 channel:
It’s friendly and sometimes they have competitions.
Q) Can I play with friends in tank battles against the bots?
A) Sorry, no. The bots are only appear when playing offline or when you are the only human in the room
Q) Why can’t I change server? The option is greyed out!
A) You can’t change server from the main menu (I don’t know why). You have to go into the game, take the options menu from the pause menu, and you can now select EU, JP or US
Q) Why would I want to change server?
A) On the world map billboard, the bottom right shows how many players are on each server. It usually varies depending on time of day. You can change to a server with lots of players, or even to one with fewer if you like. You have to change server when in-game, not from the main menu.
Also if your session feels ‘laggy’ (slow to respond) changing server may help.
Q) Can me and my friends have a room to ourselves?
A) Sorry, this isn’t possible. But you could go onto the server with the least players and you might get fewer other players join.
Q) Can I transfer my game progress from phone to PC (etc)?
A) Sorry, each platform is separate and game saves, progress, cash etc cannot be transferred.
You can transfer from one PC to another, one android phone to another, etc, but not between different platforms.
Q) How does Crash Drive 3 compare with Crash Drive 2?
A) CD3 has better graphics and there are many more game modes. I still play CD2 as well though, especially the tank battles.
Q) Does CD3 have any bugs?
A) There are a few: Sometimes the tag events get stuck and go on for ages, sometimes the beachball goes crazy, sometimes the races don’t start properly, a few weird things can happen with tank battles, etc. I think most of them have been fixed but still persist until every platform and every player has got the latest version. And some are temporary (a few seconds) caused by a player having a poor connection.
Q) Is it better playing online or offline?
A) The online multiplayer really is more fun, they are more types of events, and higher rewards. Offline is okay, good for exploring, quiet practice and when you don’t have internet.
Q) Can I get rid of the HUD (heads-up display)?
A) On a PC you can use F8 to toggle the HUD to get a nice clear screen e.g. for screenshots or video clips. You can also use F7 to get a free roaming camera (I think this is only available after you have maxed all the vehicles). I think these options are PC-only.
Q) Where are the last collectibles?
A) It is quite hard to find them all. People have made youtube videos if you get stuck.
Q) Any overall tips/advice?
A) Don’t worry about game progress, just have fun!
